Figured I'd update this a little. The car is listed on Craigslist right now, I've gotten a few offers but haven't had anything serious yet. If it sells then I'm looking at either a procharger 95 GT or an 04 Mach 1. If I don't get any serious bites then I'll probably just buy a used motor for it and possibly tear down this current one.

Links for the GT: http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4867965167.html
And the Mach: http://denver.craigslist.org/ctd/4850106887.html

Here's a low mileage, white, automatic, 03 Mach 1 out here on the west coast.

Dang that looks cherry! Unfortunately if I'm gonna drop that much on a car then it's not gonna be a Mach 1

Yes. I would begin negotiations at $14k for that car.
The pro to buying a car like that is, it is not going to depreciate much, if at all.
The con is, it would be a shame to daily drive it and rack up a bunch of miles.

Yeah I would feel a little bad driving that around. Especially submitting it to Colorado winters.

Id drive an auto Mach! Also, go for the 04's. They have updated heads with more threads (9 I think) for the spark plugs.

Yeah if I got that Azure blue one I'd go with a nice stall, do some bolt-ons, gears and some drag radials

I'd like to see you swap an IRS in one.

I'd love to but that swap was a pain in the *** last time. I don't know where I'd find another one to swap

Alright so I'm expecting my tax return at any time now and I've been looking at used engines. My question is this, if I buy a romeo engine with the 6 bolt crank and a new flywheel for it will I be able to transfer my 10.5" clutch to the new one? Or will I need to buy an 11" clutch?

That Mach 1 was a great color of blue I saw a white one this weekend on a car lot while I was looking for minivans for my mother in law. My son and I liked the Mustang more of course

I believe that you can just use the 10.5 clutch.

Yeah I would prefer a stick but I won't say no to an auto depending on the car

I kind of feel the same way, but I think this was for the best. It allows me to buy something that gets better gas mileage and I can sit back and start saving up for something nice.

You are right, of course...

I'm just going to miss this thread and the summer time drag racing thread. You were so close to the 14's! Lol.

Well, you must have something that you're eyeballing, what are thinking about getting?

Right now I'm honestly looking at picking up a small truck like a Ranger or an S10 to drive around for now. I was contemplating another Mustang but there's nothing good for sale right now other than a 95 GT that the guy won't sell for anything less than $6,500. But if I buy a cheap truck then a few years down the road I wanna try and get back into a nicer mustang. Probably a S197 or a Mach.

I'm really gonna miss going out and drag racing during the summer though. I enjoyed the experience and trying to push the car to 14s. Who knows, maybe you'll see a thread about my drag exploits in a truck

I think that is a wise decision. Where I live (which is nothing like CO's climate) it would be impractical to only have my Mustang as my DD. Plus, I'm a truck guy anyway. And, I'm pretty sure that my truck is slightly faster than my Mustang in a straight line.
Also, trucks can be made to corner well... At the autocross series that I was running in last year, there was a late eighties Toyota that was a regular out there, and I could never beat that truck's time until I started using R-comps. Lol.

Haha.
You'll have to take whatever you get to the strip at least once!

That's a bummer to see her go, but I understand. I hope you can get back in a Mustang again down the road.

Haha yeah the fact that I drove it as a DD for so long is kind of impressive. You know now that you bring it up I remember the Trucks guys on Powerblock TV building a road race Ranger! That would be fun to do...

I'm definitely planning on getting another one some day. Now's just the chance for me to sit back and find the right deal.

Haha I'll try to resist the urge. I will admit, that would be so awesome to have a truck like that

Well I picked up my new DD for the next few years. It's a 2001 Ranger with 144k on it. I don't have any pictures yet because irs dark and snowing outside. It's a four cylinder with a 5 Speed and 2wd. I'll admit I'm really looking forward to getting some good gas mileage with it.

Cool!
You're going to like the usefulness of a truck. You'll probably miss the power of the Mustang though... But look at it this way, you only downsized by three cylinders and, if I remember correctly, you still have the same number of spark plugs! Lol.

That should be a good truck!
Post some pics when you get a chance.

Yeah I already miss the power and short throw shifter. I've gotta get used to the lack of torque of it. It just had a major service done on it too, timing belt, spark plugs, wires, and an oil change

Nice! I had a 90 ext cab Ranger I bought brand new back in the day. It was a v6 5spd. It was the first vehicle I had bought brand new. Great truck.

Not really an update on anything, but the Mustang bug has bit hard. I recently got a new job so the thought of picking up a new car has been rolling around in my head the last few weeks. I'm not buying anything for now, but if this thing is up in a few months I may consider trying to pick it up. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5015199378.html

Yeah, it's the second time that it's popped up on Craigslist too.

I got a job at UPS as a mechanic working on their package trucks. Pays nice but the hours aren't the greatest.

Yep, if I can stick around long enough I'll have some great benefits and if I make it 35 years I can retire with a pension. Unfortunately it's graveyard until all the old guys on the day shift retire and I have enough seniority to bid for one of their positions.
