Coil over struts

On my new pony I replaced the struts cause they were badly wore out, now when the car is raised on jack should there be any play in the coils? Or should I adjust them up till they touch?

If you adjust them up, that'll raise the hight of the car. I've got coil overs and my rear coils have play when I raise the axel off the ground. Just be sure they seat properly when you set it back down.
