Brake light switch question?

Hello members I just have a question about my brake light switch. So I notice my brake lights are staying on and the switch itself will get so hot you can't touch it! So I guess my question is how often do these go out? I ask because I replaced it once already about a year and a half ago...

Well if its getting super hot i would start by looking at the connector and the wires on the switch for any opening that would ground it out or short it out. My guess is its touching something and is causing it to short causing it to get hot quick. Just my 2ยข
