You will need a pully puller for taking off the stock crank pully, only four bolts hold the water pully, and IF your doing the alternator you'll need an impact gun to get that one off and on.

---------- Post added at 11:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:46 AM ----------

Also don't forget to take the serpantine belt off....lol

Is the torque wrench to tighten everything down afterwards? Cuz I don't have one right now so I'll have to go grab one.

Hit up your local Autozone. They have the harmonic balancer puller/installer as well as torque wrench both available in their loan a tool program. Pay for them upfront and get ALL of your money back including tax once your done.

No, you don't absolutely need the alternator pully. You won't notice a difference with it on with the other UDP's anyways.

The biggest one is the crank pulley that goes at the bottom.. The medium one goes right above the crank pulley the water pump I believe and the smallest one is the alternator pulley. U don't need that one so don't do it.. These three pulleys make line straight up and down u will see it when u look under the hood..

You could save yourself the time and need for air tools by not using the alternator pully. Each pully had a different way to bolt to your car. And they look similar to the stock ones, just a little smaller or bigger.

Water pump pully goes on with 4 small bolts.

Crank pulley goes on with one big bolt, and is ribbed (for your pleasure).

Alternator pulley is the smallest of them all, and goes one with one big bolt.

Bottom one with the four bolt holes is the water pump (you labeled it as crank). The middle one looks like the crank, but from my phone its too dark. There is only one way they would go on, once you get the stockers off, you'll see.

From your picture:

Top: alternator
Middle: crank (is that a piggy back style?)
Bottom: water pump

Ok, I just looked at the steeda 01-04 udp, and the crank pulley has some kind of harmonic balancer on it too. Keep in mind the crank pulley has a key hole on it, so there is only one way it'll go on.

Gasket maker would be for like the corners im between gaskets (corners) to create a tight seal, some use it around water pumps and stuff, but you shouldn't need any at all.

Its not a piggy back, Just different than mine (99-00 and bbk's)

I'm looking now bro. I just used an impact gun to be honest. Oh and I forgot to add, no gasket sealer needed, but you could put some blue locktite on the water pump bolts. Just an fyi. I didn't, and Its been fine for 5 years....lol

Still looking for specs just in case.....

---------- Post added at 05:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:05 PM ----------

From Steeda instructions on crank pulley:

1. Torque bolt to 66 lb-ft.
2. Loosen bolt one full turn
3. Torque bolt to 37 lb-ft.
4. Tighten bolt an additional 90 degrees.

And a quick tip:

IIRC on the water pump, barely loosen the bolts before you take the belt off. And put your car in gear too. Once belt is off, go ahead and fimish taking the pullwy out. For the new pulley, put it on and hand tighten the 4 bolts first. Then once its flat against the pump, put your belt back on, and tighten them down after. Other wise you'll be fighting the pulley from spinning.

Well use a 3/8 wrench or breaker bar on the idler pulley which is heavy spring loaded. Pull the idler pilley up to swing it up for slack, then pop the belt off. Just make a rendering of the belt routing so you know how it goes back on.

Well you'll need the pulley puller for it. That will attach to the crank pulley with three bolts, anad should be a 3/8 ratchet to back it out. You should have clearance, but it could be tight. And best to get it from under the car. As for install the new one should shimmy on. Might need to tap it slightly to seat, but the torque instructions from steeda will make sure it sits flush.

Oh and also, the 4.6's were internally balanced so they technically don't have a "harmonic balancer" like a pushrod 5.0 would.

Normal thread. And like I stated the new one should just shimmy on, but you might need to tap it alittle evenly to get it flush.the torque sequence will set it completely
