2003 Cobra Project:

Ok so I have half read most of the post here, purchased me a 2004 wrecked GT, 2003 Cobra body (and I mean Body only),no engine, no tras, no IRS....I will be using) a 96 Cobra engine and transmission. and now I want to put this all together to build a weekend car/strip car to just play around with.
here are my questions:
1. Can I just bolt in the 04 GT straight axle rear end using mostly the stock GT parts (ie control arms, shocks, etc?
2. Can I use mostly the stock 04 GT wiring, computer to work with the DOHC cobra engine?

this thing is primarily starting out as a project, so bear with me if it looks like a junkyard build, because it defiantly is lol
I will defiantly be having many questions as its been a few years since working on mustangs, and a lot has changed since the 79 thru 95 years.

1. Yes
2. Yes but you will need to modify the wiring harness to make it work

2003 Cobra Project:

To make the GT harness work for the DOHC cobra motor you'll just have to lengthen some of the wires. It's pretty easy if you have a grasp on wiring. 32vNomad is the big dawg on this topic though. He would be able to answer everything. Check out his engine swap article where he put a 4v into a GT body. It'll be similar to what you're doing.

Why not just build up the GT and go through all the extra stuff for the Cobra body just to build a frankenstang? I could see if the Cobra body was low mileage and clean title and you were going to bring it back...

The transmission in the GT is going to be stronger than the one out of the 96 btw.

Plus you have to look at insurance. Doesn't matter what engine you have in it. The vin on that 03 is going to come back as a 4v s/c car. What's wrecked on the gt??? Pics??
