2003 GT reluctant starting

My 2003 GT is reluctant to start unless I turn the ignition on, wait about 20-30 seconds and then try to start it. If I only wait about 10 seconds it cranks with good speed but does not start. Is this typical of the car when new or should I worry about the computer starting to go bad. The car has 107K.

Have you tried cycling the key on and off a couple times before starting? It's probably your fuel pump on its way out

Sold - Black 2000 Mustang GT, gone but definitely not forgotten
- Silver 2007 Corvette
Current - DHG 2001 Bullitt

Yep. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Put a new fuel filter in and see if that helps. If it doesn't, do a fuel pressure test to determine the condition of the fuel pump.

Common problem. The fuel pump has a check valve that holds pressure. The check valves goes bad and allows the fuel to float back to the tank. New fuel pump will fix the problem

Sounds like what my 03 Gt was doing and I had to replace the fuel pump. It's not that hard of a job just a bit time consuming, I'm 20 years old and was able to tackle this and replacing my intake manifold in the same day. I also cleaned out my fuel tank while I was at it so I didn't have to worry about the dirt and sediment in my new pump
