2004 Mustang GT Xpipe Questions..

Hey guys this is my first post here so I apologize if I don't geg it perfectly... anyways, I just got a 2004 Mustang GT, and I have flowmasters on it, I found a guy on Craigslist that has a bassani O/R x pipe for $75, he sent me pictures of it installed and said the only thing wrong with it is just that it has a modified clamp and would need to either be removed or cut off. I'll attach the picture he sent me. my questions is will it cause me any problems if I try to fit it to my car? or should I just take it to an exhaust shop? if so, how much do you guys think they will charge me to install it? I know very little about aftermarket exhaust installation.

No it shouldn't , looks like a x pipe for stock manifolds , should bolt up if it's the same 99-04 GT
I always take mine to a shop
I pay anywhere from 100-140 for install

Yeah $100 for an hour of labor is about right. Although you can do it on ramps in an hour yourself for free with hand tools... And no that will not bolt on, look at it.

For whatever reason, that pipe is welded at the ball/socket and then clamped... That is a hack job and a half from looking at it, I would pass. You can get non-hacked pipes for $75-$100 all day if you look.

Also no shop is going to install an O/R pipe unless you know them as in know them like a friend because it is very illegal.

Yeah that would be nice to have a competent shop that didn't have to obey any US laws close by haha.

Lol na the older guy does good work,
He did my GT exhaust and did my mid pipe, mufflers, tips on the Mach 1 for a cheap price and good welds, so I don't complain.

Haha yeah thats the problem I'm running into. No one wants to touch it. I also found a Magnaflow catted x pipe, the guy is saying its for 96-04, will an x pipe from a 96 really fit a 04? I've never heard of it before...

They all install the same. Unbolt the stocker, bolt in the O/R one, add in MIL eliminators to put our your CEL.

The "gotcha" one of the nuts on the passenger side header is hard to get at. With a shallow 3/8 drive socket the stud is too long to get it in there, with a deepwell the socket is too long to fit. Solution is to use a 1/2" drive shallow socket which is deep enough to get over the stud to the nut but not deep enough to prevent it from getting on.

Yes replace the gasket, and make sure to use plenty of penetrating oil. Stripping that passenger side not sucks ***

Hahah, so the weirdest thing happened, everything was super easy, the passenger side was actually the easiest part. the not so fun part was stripping a nut on the driver side, which ended up taking 2 hours to cut off. other than that everything went smoothly, I'm in love with the new sound, can't wait to get the mil eliminators though!

Thanks for all the help from everyone, definitely saved me from being screwed with the other x pipe. I've been on a lot of forums and I have to say this is definitely one of my favorites!
