Mach electrical issue?

His may not be tech but oh well, I need help. No one goes to the audio section so I'd get zero help.

The tweeters on my new GT are working with the Mach system, but the bottom subwoofers for it do not work. The car has like a 50$ or less head unit which is awful, do you think they just don't hook up the subwoofers correctly? Or is this an electrical issue? I wouldn't think so, since the top tweeters are working.

The Mach system needs a converter box wired in because the door speakers are wired to the amps. By passing the amps is likely the problem. Pull the head unit and take pics of the wireing.

Ah ok so what most likely happened is they didn't hook it up to the radio correctly? That's good.

So when I bring it in to get a new radio installed, they should fix it correctly?

Possible. Worst case is the amps are fried and that's why you don't get sound. But no big worry there. Most head units of today will sound good you will have to run new wires from the head unit to the speakers. Upgrading the speakers wouldn't hurt either.

Mach amps are pretty common aren't they? So fairly cheap

Mach amps are crap

I don't understand why anyone would stay with them.
Once I start on my audio, those cheap amps are going to the trash

They didn't connect your radio correctly , or didn't buy the right harness for the factory system.

Awesome. Thanks for confirming. It's literally like a 30$ radio so I doubt it even had the hookups lol. Will tell whoever to reconnect when I get my new radio

I know this doesn't answer your question, but Pull the 460 out and go with an aftermarket. You don't have to buy high end parts, but don't cheap out either. I spent roughly 250ish on speakers, wire, and a head unit. Installed myself and had a system that hits harder and louder than the 460 ever could.

Mach electrical issue?

If your amp is bad I know Memphis makes one that is a 250 or a 50x4 that is like 4 inches by 4 inches unless you want a lot of bass it will work perfect for nice sound and not be too much weight

The 460 runs on 3 ohms, so adding aftermarket speakers or amps to the stock sysyem will give you less than desirable output. Only way is to replace it completely, or replace the parts with oem.

Yeah but I guess I was thinking like me if I was replacing the amps I would get rid of those crappy subs any way

One of the local audio shops near me started carrying them a few months ago. I definitely agree on the bang for your buck.

I will be getting a touchscreen kenwood in it. I mainly just want sound with some bass at this point. I literally crave music, an have a system in my 6. I will be upgrading everything TRUST ME. I do have things above that on my priority list though, like getting the subwoofers to work on the Mach system, and swapping my stock exhaust for some exhaust that make my car sound like the v8 it is.

Yeah, I am wondering what I should get. I want to just exchange mufflers out to tide me over til ican save up for borla stingers. Music on the interior comes before that though. Then deep dish blak bullits lol. Any ideas on the exhaust? Wanting sort of a budget, cheap exhaust. Good enough for people to know I got a v8 under the good though lol.

Well its kinda a right of passage to get flowmasters. Lol
I'd check your local craigslist and see if someone is selling a set cheap. Near me I've seen people sell em for around 75 bucks. Then just get em welded in. And you can always go to YouTube to get an idea what they would sound like

Not really. As long as they have one inlet and one outlet 2.5 inches you're fine. You can always check ebay. Or save your money and get those stingers! I've got a set of stingers to put on my new edge, but I've been lazy to take it to my buddies shop...lol

Yeah that is kinda far. Guess it depends how much you want them. But I check that site every night; you never know what you'll find. Ome time I found and bought a set of Mac LT's and the matching midpipe for 125 bucks!

Yeah, I want them fairly bad, the stock exhaust blows lol. It will cost like 300+ to get flowmasters put on by a shop won't it? Or magnaflows?

It has to be 2" right? or can it be 2.5?

This would be my example, these are 2.5inches. Idc about them being beat up, I mean they are just mufflers lol.

2.5 is the stock size, but even alittle bigger isn't bad. I just wouldnt go smaller. Most shops will be able to weld it in no problem. As for cost, Just to weld those in shouldn't be too expensive. Around 100-150 would be fair. But I would get some price qoutes.

Awesome, so basically I need to just get quotes on price, and I can basically pick up any used flowmaster. If it's 150 bucks to weld it in, and 100 to buy it, then it would basically be 50$ more just to get brand new flowmastered installed for like 300 lol.

I would call around and see what prices you can get for new ones and labor. Then for just labor if you bring in the mufflers. That way you'll know the best way to go

I would also like to chime in and say that my right side front audio isn't working, the tweeter nor the sub. Both side are working in the rear though(tweeters, no subs are working). Front left tweeter working. What you think?

Its got to be in the wiring. One of the amps controls all four front speakers and the other controls the rear four. So since some of yours work and other don't, its got to be in the wiring.

So that means it's going to be a lot harder then it should be.. Or should a installer be able to locate the problem pretty easily?

Don't mean to derail your thread or anything just a quick semi related question. Does anyone know where to get replacement tweeters for the mach audio system? Mine blew out like two years ago and never replaced them couldn't find any
