Does it only come on when braking? If so, there's 95% chance of it being low brake fluid. I know I had to tighten my bleeder valve pretty tight to stop my leak.
If you have good brake fluid, then I don't know what to tell you, it could be a lot of things like from your master cylinder to an electrical problem.

Might want to get your alternator checked if the battery light is coming on. I believe I remember hearing about people having ABS and other electrical issues due to the alternator going out

that I do know the answer to .. If your BATTERY light comes on, its an issue with your alternator!.. check your belt and if that's good replace your alternator... The only way the battery light will come on is if your alternator is not working.

Okay so the abs light hasn't come on for a while but the battery light turned on when I accelerate... Could it be the alternator?

Everybody 99-04 has abs lol
Do you guys even know what the abs system is even for? Or how it operates ?

Battery and Alt test are free

It's very simple to get them diagnosed

My alternator diode regulator failed. You can get a kit to replace it for way less than a new alternator.

Get a new alternator, my 98 GT had the same problem with the battery light when I bought it

And system has sensors on each wheel that measure the speed of each wheel. You could have a sensor going bad or in my case the abs module was going bad. My abs light has been on for 7 years now. I didn't want to spend the money for ford to fix it. Haven't had any problems stopping.

Yes.
The traction control receives its information from the ABS.
If the ABS is malfunctioning, the traction control won't work...

Before you go and start tossing parts at a fault, do yourself and your wallet a favor and get the charging system checked...for free. Most automotive parts stores will perform a load test on your battery, and your alternator. You may be asked to remove the alternator first, but you'd be doing this anyhow if you (or someone else) was going to replace it.

Sure, check the simple stuff first, like the belt, battery connections (clean connections?), then start suspecting the battery and/or alternator. But have them load tested first before replacing.

Okay I'll go get it checked.. I just replaced the battery. Couple months ago if something's up could be belt or alternator

My ABS does the same thing. It comes on and off. Brake fluid is full, master cylinder is good, alternator and battery are good. Car stops great, no issues. As slow said Almost all 96-04 cars have this issue at some point it must be a sensor acting up. I would get everything checked to be sure that It's not something else and just drive it.

I've had this ABS light thing before. It did after installing all my lowering components. I had the ABS system checked and it checked out fine. Mechanic said it was most likely a faulty sensor. My ABS worked fine when I checked it (slamming on the brakes). That was over a year ago, it did it a few times and now hasn't for almost a year.
