Grinds into reverse

To get my car into reverse i have to go into first let off the clutch a little then throw it in reverse. It grinds any other way, this normal ? Cause it never happened before

My 2001 does the same thing. Impossible to just get it in reverse normal. Usually I just have to put it in 5th and then it'll slide right into reverse. If that doesn't work I have to put it in first, pull forward, and then put it in reverse.

From my understanding it's a fairly common problem with new edge GTs. Plus I have the early 2001 so I have the ****ty tranny on top of that.

Mine grinds too. I usually give it a little gas with the clutch pushed in, and sometimes, she'll go right into gear and other times it still grinds. Or like mentioned before, I go into 5th, then it goes right into reverse.

+1 for pulling forward slightly in first and then reverse. if i slowly and gently slide it into reverse usually works with no grind

Maybe it is caused by slack in the shift linkage. That might cause a bind and when you shift into 1st or 5th that unbinds the linkage allowing you to get into reverse.

I believe the consensus is that every new edge ever built does this.
