H pipe for exhaust - Texas cops?

I recently got some flowmaster mufflers on and the car sounds like a beast! BUT like most mustang owners I want more. An h mid pipe would be my fit I believe, but I need opinions.

First: it will be loud as crap which is great, but will it attract cops! I live in denton, Tx. Pretty liberal town and I am afraid they may act ignorant over it. I saw you can get smacke with a 10k fine? I couldn't imagine.

If it's too risky - what would be a good middle ground? I want a good bit louder but I don't want to get smacked with a 10k fine.

I searched on this topic but all the threads were for Californians being scared of the emissions police lol.

Anyone from Texas have this? Back where I used to live there aren't any emissions, only regular inspection. Denton has emissions. Thanks!

I'm in Beaumont, Texas. North of Houston and cops don't care. I have UPR O/R X Pipe with Flowmaster Super 44s. It's loud, haha. Had a cop behind me for a few stop and go and did not get pulled over. Heard Houston has emission now though.

Nice. Pretty much all big cities have that crap now. I'm from a small town and they don't have emissions. I'm more worried about getting pulled over and a cop looking and fining me 10k.. Scary thought lol

H pipe for exhaust - Texas cops?

I have o/r h and SLP powerflos. It's loud but not too loud. It quiet enough where you can easily creep quietly by cops but when you mash it people will turn their head. I live in California, pretty strict. I just throw it in a high gear and keep my foot out of it if I see a cop

That's how it is back at home where I lived. 402 people in the town, and I lived in the country of it lol.

Is it that much louder than my flowmaster mufflers? Do you pass emissions?

The SLP powerflos are a tad louder than flows. For emissions, I swap out my mid pipe

I thought so. You don't need a lift or nothing to take them off and put them on do you?

I live in Californian. I have bbk off road x-pipe with slp loud mouth and two words "love it" it sounds just perfect. It has an aggressive tone with a rich deep throaty sound and just a bit raspy. Every time I need to get emission I just change my stock mid pipe back on and m good to go

No you dont need a lift. All you need is a jack and jack stands, it can easily be done in the driveway. Luckily i have access to a lift, it turns a 45 minute job to like 20 min lol.

I've been pulled over for not cats and my buddy in Wisconsin got a "fix it" ticket the same day he put his O/R pipe on. Honestly... I don't see the point to not running cats. They suck up all of 1hp... maybe, you don't ever have to worry and if you look you can get a good deal on one. My 98 has FRPP shorties to a BBK catted pipe to a DIY catback (dynomax thrush mufflers to flowmaster stainless tips) and its plenty loud enough. And this is from someone who ran Flowmaster 2 chambers with an O/R pipe dumped in front of the axle for years in a 91GT.

My concern isn't hp, it's sound. I could lose 5 hp, gain awesome sound and be happy as a pig in slop.

My concern is a carted mid pipe - will it be worth the 500$ extra? Like how much louder is it than flowmasters welded in?

If you are not worried about getting pulled over and don't need to pass emissions then no, the catted pipe is not worth $500 more, however, I've seen good catted ones for less brand new and way less used.

At any rate, keep your stock mid pipe in the event you do get a fix it ticket or have to go through inspection or even if you ever need to sell the car.

EP Texas here. off road H, super 10's no issues. my daily commute i see troopers, town and city 5-0. Have run straight pipes too. Agree with Scotty, I swap the mid when it's emissions time.

Lol, straight pipe is loud. Had it before I put Flowmasters on. Cops did not bother me when I had straights. Got pulled over for going 5 miles over speed limit and didn't say anything about my straight pipes. Had a cop follow me yesterday. Did not pulled me over for loud exhaust. Just depends where you live.

I know for a fact cops would pull you over for straight pipes around here. Plus straight pipes sound like a bag of ***.
