You cannot run a HID without a ballast. If you are going halogen or LED you can just use the stock setup.

Also its very hit or miss on what kelvin rating you will actually get with a cheap kit if you do the HIDs. I got what is considered a "starter" kit from one of the quality vendors and that usually retails for $129 and that's just for one set of ballasts and one set of bulbs/wiring. Many kits with the cheap chinese parts are not putting out enough wattage or the bulbs are wrong or they are not rebased properly which is why the good ones do not cost $30.

LED being the bluest and Halogen being more whitish yellow.. I got some halogen's from oreilly's and all they were was a tad bit whiter than my stocks. They were the 60$ highest dollar ones they had there too.

Dang it.. After reading into this thread I started browsing DDM and ten minutes later bought hi/lo headlight kit and fogs. I already have HIDs... What the heck? Oh well- guess I might as well get this upgrade while I'm upgrading everything else. Lol

If you already have HIDs you aren't going to be upgrading anything going to the DDM kit. Plus in stock housings... well you can re-read what I've already posted. You're blinding ppl with them, period, and you can't aim them where it doesn't happen because the reflectors scatter the light so much they could be pointing 45 degrees down at the road in front of the car and it wouldn't matter.

Previous HIDs weren't hi/lo heads and also I'm going a different temperature.

And I've never been flashed before and I drive headlights and fogs at all time. But not arguing about stock housing and HIDs. They aren't made for it. But I've had them for years so.. Whatever.
