Any Body Kit Experiences

I just bought my 99 GT Convertible and for my first install I had an Alpine stereo w/ satellite XM receiver put in (speakers and amps later) ordered fogged twin halo headlights and carbon fiber led tail lights. Next week I plan on ordering the X9 Cobra urethane body kit with fogs from mrbodykit.com. I'm shipping it to a body shop for matching paint and plan on installing it myself after dry fitting it before paint. Is there any advice, tools needed, or experiences out there from the pros at this that could be of any help ? Thank you in advance for any insights.

Oh god... not a fan of that body kit at all.

That being said, I've only pulled the front bumper off my car and it was pretty straightforward. Just need to remove the headlights, remove any necessary wheel well plastic to gain access to the nuts for the mounting brackets, remove nuts, and then there should be two tabs help on by some clips underneath the car on the radiator support.

I'm not a fan of the nose of the Edge and IMHO it needs something below the bumper to pretty it up some. I like the side skirts on the X9. The jury is out on the rear bumper cover though. Do you have any kits that you do like ? If so please share your opinion. I haven't ordered it yet and am still shopping.

Well the popular choices are: stock bumper with mach 1 chin, 99-01 Cobra bumper (my favorite), 03-04 Cobra bumper, Roush stages 1, 2 or, 3, or the saleen bumpers.

I bought my car with a Razzi body kit on already. It's not too bad. Looks nice, and has held up pretty well over the years.Feels a bit flimsy though. Previous owner told me the original owner put it on sometime on 05-06. Watch out for potholes though if you install a body kit. i cracked the lip on mine going over one. Patched up pretty easily though.

I will continue my research and check those out. Thanks for the opinion. I want to be completely happy if I'm spending about 2 grand between the kit and paint. I may have to mix and match the parts to get there though.

All those body kits are no name knock off kits, I would stay away. You have a lot of options to make the car look great without making it look like a ricemobile spaceship.

03/04 Cobra side skirts, Bullitt/Mach sail panels, Mach lip and lower it and you are good. There are other combos too but you need to be careful where you are buying form and what brands. Like I said there are a LOT of kits out there. Very few fit without work and only a select few brands fit like OEM.

I personally like the Roush stage 3 body kit but there's so much more to it than just the kit like the exhaust but that's my opinion

Looks great. Cervinis is one of the few that makes parts that fit like OEM. They are also an hour away from me which will be nice when I go to get some side skirts and scoops. They will paint the parts too so you can just put them on when you get them.

I like the Roush stage 3 front bumper with the fogs and grilles included at $455, but not the sides or rear bumper either. The X9 side skirts or B magic are pretty cool IMO at $299 for either. The B magic rear at $299 or the Couture Demon at $350 have potential. I might just go with the whole Couture Demon kit at $899. This is my dilemma, I don't want to spend $1400 for a mix and match when I can get one for $500 less. That eats into my budget for a cool hood. Opinions are like butts everyone has one. I just know my pony is too plain and I want to dress her up a bit.
