Okay my buddy has a 99 cobra 4V swapped GT

Mods - Longtubes X pipe Catback
Cold air intake , Tune , 373 Gears , Short throw , decent driver

My Mods - 410s , X pipe

Everytime we run I always beat him by like 2 cars, and I don't understand why
I'm not the best driver but I'm decent too

It's because yours is a Mach 1. I don't know the exact details on each car, but the stick Mach 1s made a lot more power than they were rated for from the factory. Not to mention you have upgraded suspension components from the factory in comparison to the GT, and a better transmission. Also your car is lighter weight, due to having an aluminum block 4v.

What year cobra did the 4v swap come out of? That and mileage/how worn out the engine is can also play a factor. He probably has an iron block 4v which is heavier than the Mach 1s.

Mach 1s are ridiculously quick cars

The 4V in the 99/01 is very slightly lower powered than the 03/04 Mach with the revised heads. Besides that they're identical. Dude with the 99 swapped 4V has like a 160k miles on it though, there is your answer.

The stick Mach 1st also had a forged crank and put out a lot more than the advertised power rating.

Forged crank is not good for any more power in stock trim with the stock powdered rods. That makes no difference. The only difference in the motors is the revised ports on the 03/04 C heads, that is it and it wasn't really a huge difference in power. Like I said, old boy is losing because the guy who swapped that 4V in used a super high mileage motor and this is what happens.
