2001 Stang won't start without starter fluid

It will only start with starter fluid being sprayed into the throttle.. Fuel pump turns on. New fuel filter. What do you guys think? It's not the sparks there's no misfire.
It starts with starter fluid and you can drive it for as long as you want. And it will start again if it's only been off for less than I'm guessing 2 hours. But after work and sitting there for 8 hours it won't start up..

You could put a fuel pressure test gauge on it to be sure, BUT, I think that it's safe to say that your fuel pump is in the very last stage of it's life...

RIP Fuel pump.

It should be at 35 to 55 psi and and should hold the indicated pressure for 5 minutes with a loss of less than 5 psi.
It's the pressure holding that is probably the problem with your pump...

Okay thanks man it's my friends trying to get this thing started.. Haha if not then what do you think about the fuel injectors? When I pulled the rail away from them only gas came out of the top of one..

FUEL PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Test it if you can, but I'm pretty sure that's the problem.
I have a new one for my car, waiting to be installed, because I've been experiencing the beginnings of the same symptoms you've described. My car has almost 150k miles.
