Power window

My drivers side window doesnt go up or down without my assistance(pulling up or pushing down). Itll go part way and then just stop at the same point in both directions. I can hear the motor working though. The motor does sound different at the point where the window needs assistance. Any ideas before i tear this thing apart?

I have an 01 that did the same thing. I was shown to hit the door panel above the handle when you push the button to go up. After that it kept working. Cool little trick.

Assuming you're talking about the 1998 GT, remove the window motor, remove the drive gear ( which also requires removal of the cover plate ) and replace the torque pins. While youre in there, it's important to dig out the old fragments from the old busted up torque pins, which are scattered about in the grease. Clean all that out, put in new grease, install new torque pins, then put the motor back in. Problem solved.

By the way, torque pins are readily available at the local parts store, on the "HELP" cards.
