FR500 / Nitto 555 Wheels and Tires for 2004 GT

I need to replace the original factory tires on my 2004 GT. In stead of going with OEM replacements I am going to go with new wheels and aggressive tires.

AM has the item I am looking for, FR500 18x9/10 (Item # 32605). Just about the only place I go to purchase Mustang stuff.

NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 275/35-18 Tires
NITTO Extreme Performance NT555 285/35-18 Tires

My question is ... has anyone put these tires and wheels on their 2004 GT (non Cobra)? Since I am moving up from 17" to 18" I am worried about clearance in the wells and with turning.

Does anyone have any input?

Thanks
Tom

I have the same exact wheel/tire size as you are looking at, just different style. I have my car lowered 1.5" and I still have plenty of room for everything to move around. You will have no problem fitting those on your car. Great choice

Why did you hate them?

What is the brand and size?

What wheel did you go with?

I was thinking also about the 2003 Cobra stagger no deep dish. But I cannot find them in an 18 inch, only 17 inch.

You can get them on ebay in staggered 18" sizes.

the nitto nt555's arent very responsive in my book, but im picky with my tires cause i work for americas tire/discount tire for 4 years. i have 275/38/18's up front and 285/35/18s in the rear, and i have 18x9 fr500s up front and 18x10s in the rear. the BFG comp 2 is an excellent tire, and the yokohama sdrive is pretty good too. if you wanted to step into the better traction tires the nt05 and nt01 are good ones.

As I mentioned in another thread, I have been turned on to the Mickey Thompson Street Comps. From everything I'm reading, these are game changers. Raptinator has a set on his Coyote and he's the one that let me know about them. UTQG of 300, better grip than the 555Rs, good in the rain and the price is amazing.

Any reason you wanna go 18s over 17s? Just out of curiosity
