Champion hoods

Have any if you dealt with champion hoods. Cause they got a 99-04 cobra R for $272 and to get it painted is around $300.

Champion=Cincinnati Composites=Cobra Auto Designs=STAY THE HELL AWAY.

They may be one of, if not the ONLY vendor to be banned from all the major rags despite having the money to pay for ad space. Hell, even Granetelli is still allowed to advertise and that dude's suspension products have almost killed ppl... Wavy fiberglass, hoods flying up at highway speed, lots of $$$ in prep to even make one fit half decently etc...

There is a reason they are so cheap. And honestly, if you are looking at a hood based on price... stick with the stock hood. There are only a few companies I would trust for a good hood. Cervinis, BossInc, Kaenen, maybe HO Fibertrends or Harwood. Plus you will actually save money in prepwork if you go with one of the higher quality ones. A Cervinis is literally prime/spray/install.

For a hood? Hell no. If your price range is $200-$300 you can't afford a good one and you don't want a bad hood.

If you have a 94-98 you MAY be able to find a 96-98 OEM Cobra hood for your price range but it will be secondhand.

The ONLY reason I would consider this company is because I live local to them and I can go inspect before I buy. I've had some friends get "decent" goods from them. But other than that I wouldn't. They annoy the shiot out of me on craigslist with their million adds. I have even seen local people complaining about them on craigslist and repeatedly flagging their adds.

Last week at NMRA down here in Bradenton, Champion were selling hoods just inside the gate. They are super cheap, and the thing that scares me about them is the single piece of metal riveted to where the latch would catch (obviouly im speaking on the bolt on hoods). Better companies would have the whole area reinforced with metal. My buddy bought a bolt on 3" cowl for a fox that needed ALOT of work for 60 bucks from the guy. But he's a body guy (it would probably take just as much work as it would to buy a better quality), and he's gonna run pins in the front. Boss hoods were there too, and their hoods looked amazingly good quality. Cant speak to fit and finish, but I noticed a quite a few cars in the car show with a Boss hood on. But they are around 500 bucks for theirs.

Boss is the ****. Champion is garbage. If your buddy bought a cincy/cad/champion hood he is in for a fun time getting it right even if he is a body guy.

Me and a buddy both bought hoods from them at the same time. The fitment was a lol off had to file the edges to get it straight. He bought the 3in cowl. The cowl had to have putty slapped on cuz it had waves. I got the mach 3 hood it was alot better. The latch catch on the cowl hood broke the first time he shut the hood. Mine last from 08 to 2012 when my parents let my car roll down the drive into our boat trailer while I was deployed never had an issue with the one I had. Its a you get what you pay for type of thing. I prolly won't buy from them again tho. I'll save the money and buy a better quality one. Just save your money for another month or two and buy the nice one. The body shop who has to straighten it out will charge you at least a grand to do body work and paint. If me and my buddy hadn't work at a body shop and didn't do the work ourselves he would have shelled out a grand in prep and another 400 in paint. Just wait and get a nice quality one. I have heard of some of their hoods coming apart at the edge where it hangs over the bumper splitting and coming off.

Good plan. I dunno about your area, but I see guys selling cowl hoods atleast once every few months on CL. Heck that's where the majority of my parts come from too!

I am planning on getting the steeda hood too. It looks pretty good. Do you prefer the Q400 with louvers, or the one without?
