this might be crazy.... but worth it?

hey guys,

I had a crazy idea today, and i think it might actually be worth all the effort.

what if i took a hardtop 99-04 and converted it into a t-top? i tried looking around the internet and found no pictures of any and only a few forums asking the same question with no real answers... i think it might be possible and maybe even affordable depending on who you take it to... but how do you guys think it would be? worth the effort? or a disaster of a project?

The top of your car is part of its overall structure. When you cut into it, you are taking that support away. Ever wonder why convertibles without tops weigh more than cars with tops? Because they needed to build support into other parts of the car to make up for the missing top. You will be cutting pretty much out of the top to make a t-top. You're not just dropping in a sunroof. I wouldn't recommend it, but that is only my opinion.

Good Lord!?!!
Cutting a two foot section out of the roof of a New Edge pretty much ruins the the lines of the car, doesn't it?
It looks like the car in the top picture is a convertible with a custom top of some sort.
Oh well, now we know why Ford didn't offer a removable roof option...

To be fair, though, none of the cars pictured are "T-tops".. those would all be considered "Targa tops".
