So, I had a front-end accident a couple of weeks ago and have repaired everything to make it fully functional, but I need to replace the grill and front bumper, and if I was ever going to think about getting aftermarket things, now would be the time. I have replaced the headlights with a smoked lens (like the '01 Cobra, nothing radical). I plan on replacing the the grill with the same honeycomb grill and pony, but plasti-dip the corral around the pony (unless anyone knows where to buy a grill with the honeycomb AND corral delete) because I like the Mach/Cobra delete, but I don't like seeing the radiator in the open. The main thing I'm stuck on is I don't know if I want a aftermarket bumper (I like the stock set-up as before w/chin spoiler). I also really like the Cobra R bumper, but I'm kinda iffy on that extra lip (I thought about painting part of the lip black). Another option I found was the bumper on a headlight alignment "How-To" video at AutoHow.tv/AM (but I can't tell if that's just another type of chin spoiler or even where to buy it. Are there any other bumpers y'all would recommend? I don't like things like the Cobra bumper, (seems more "sports car" instead of "muscle") or the Roush (seems too "rice"). I'm looking for a classy muscular look, and I may just go back to my previous stock set-up (I still have the chin spoiler, I just took it off so I didn't scratch it up with a messed up bumper) I just would like to see what other kind of bumpers there are besides the Roush, Cobra, or Cobra R bumpers sold on AM.

Mach 1 Grill delete
Stock bumper cover and mach 1 chin spoiler
or cobra bumper

anything else just looks bad on these cars

+1^ I kind of like the Roush Stage 2 bumper but I think you have to have a very "in your face" car to pull off most aftermarket body kits.

99/01 Cobra bumper is the best looking IMO but good luck finding one. Failing that, Mach lip and go.

Thank y'all for all the input, I didn't know some of these existed (which means this thread is a success). So far I'm diggin' the '99/'01 Cobra bumper with chin spoiler, all I previously knew about was the one on AM (I guess that was purely '03/'04). It's like the perfect blend between the stock GT and Cobra R, plus it doesn't lower the car, so my side-skirts are the same height, and I can close the wheel-gap with lowering springs later without having to fret over scraping the bumper (as bad).

As far as the grill, I've already made up my mind that I want Honeycomb(I personally don't care to be able to see the radiator). Not that seeing a Mustang with it angers me, it's just a personal preference. I'll plasti-dip a honeycomb w/corral (not dipping the pony) unless someone knows of an filled-in (not necessarily honeycomb) grill without the corral, but still retains the pony.

I still have a while to think, as I have to first save-up money, but I figured it would be good to start looking as soon as possible, now that I know it HAS to be replaced.

How much lower does the cobra r bumper come down over the stock GT bumper. My car is already lowered and don't know if the R would be TOO low or if It would be safer to do the cobra bumper

Another 2-2.5". If it's fiberglass just go ahead and break it before installing it.

That's another dilemma, I really liked my old set-up (I have a pic on my profile, for some reason, I can't get my profile picture to change in the forums). I am going to have a big choice when I get the money. I just want to get all my options straight before wasting money on something that I'll change later. I feel the 99/01 Cobra with chin spoiler looks more aggressive, and the stock with chin spoiler looks more classy. I know I won't be disappointed with either though. I never knew this would be this difficult to choose.

99/01 Cobra bumper is going to run you $600 plus paint plus another $75 or whatever the Mach lip costs. Figure $1k when all is said and done vs $75 for the Mach lip that looks damn good on a GT bumper. Your choice, Slow4V's Mach looks ridiculously good with that 99/01 bumper but he found a deal on his plus I think he "knows a guy" for paint.

scotty, I know you can't see it from the picture, but I HAVE to replace the stock bumper anyway (it is cracked and morphed). I also already have the Mach lip (I took it off because there's no since in risking scratching it up when the bumper doesn't look good). So when it comes down to it, I have a choice of a $200 GT bumper or a $600 Cobra bumper. That's why I'm asking now, so I can look for a good deal between now and the summer. I realize there will be a difference in price, but I don't want to waste money on something I'll regret later.

if moneys not an issue then for sure cobra all day long.
if you dont really want to spend the extra money find a color matched bumper
throw your chin spoiler back on and its a clean look.
moneys the only factor here. outcome is good either way
