Loud Bang When I Hit a Bump?

I just had my 97 Mustang GT lowered in the last couple of months. I noticed after the first few times driving it, that loud bang happened, almost like I'm maxing something out. Any ideas on what it could be? I don't want to mess anything up worse than it sounds . Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How low did you drop it? Did you line the pigtails of the springs up correctly? What sort of bumps are you driving over?

I believe it was 1.5" rear, 1.2" in the front. Something along those lines. I personally didn't do the work. And it doesn't even have to be a bump, like a rise in the road, or a little dip. It makes a loud pop or crack noise. I think it happened when I made a sharp turn once as well. I'm guessing something's getting maxed out when it happens, it doesn't sound like I'm bottoming out.

Check your springs to make sure one isn't broken.

Yeah, there's definitely something wrong! Either you need to jack it up and inspect EVERYTHING, or, you need to take it to the guy who did the work and get HIM to inspect EVERYTHING.

I guess the only thing to do is lift it up and check! But what could cause this noise? Or make something break?

Something possibly didn't get tightened all the way.
It would be helpful to know what general area that the noise is coming from...

Sounds like in the front on the passenger side.

Get the car in the air and start inspecting. We can guess all we want on the interwebs but until you actually look at it you aren't going to get anything. Could be a busted swaybar, something came unseated from when you installed the stuff, spring broke etc...
