Shorties will make no more power over stock manifolds. Modulars are not like the previous 5.0s that had terrible factory headers. Longtubes will make a little more power but you're going to have to drop the K member to install them.

Honestly, if you have things to improve in other areas I'd do that first.

If I were you I would invest in rear gears and suspension, those will be more noticeable ..

If you just want a good exhaust tone. Just get a mid pipe and some weld in mufflers, and nice tips.

Zing!

On a N/A 2v 4.6 you won't notice much of a difference with LT's. But it is definitely a supporting mod if you have an F.I. setup. Like stated earlier, I would use the money for suspension and other things first.

No, you will notice it but a good set like slp or kooks are going to run $800+. Often this money can be put to better use unless everything else is done.

I've got a set of Mac LT's and besides the sound, I didn't notice a difference with them.

Its probably there but not enough for the SOTP-o-meter to pick up on. We're talking 10-15ft lbs at most on a NA 2V. Strokers and 4Vs will see a bit more pickup but the funny thing is with a blower you aren't worrying about the scavenging effects anymore so it makes sense to leave the shorties on if you ever plan to do a supercharger later on so you aren't running into ground clearance issues or issues pulling the trans for whatever reason.

In all honesty I don't think they are worth it unless you are a big power boosted app, nitrous or a stroker doing an max effort NA build. To each their own though. The PO of my car put FRPP shorties on this engine I'm assuming when it was out of the car (99 PI engine swapped into my 98) as that would make the most sense. Non-ceramic but stainless and they should hold up a very long time. My stainless 94/95 FRPP headers looked nearly brand new when I pulled them off after running them from 2003-2009.

Ok so we're on the same page then. I knew there was alittle gain with the LT's, but not enough to feel it. That's what I was saying in my post but not so long winded.
With the a/c drain pipe where it is, it leaks on the passenger side header and gave it an awful stain. But they have held up pretty good otherwise too. And they aren't coated either.

Why doesn't ford racing make their own set of long tubes?
