How to tell if Your engine Is Worn Out

does anyone know the compression that each cylinder should have on a 2000 mustang gt 2v .. going to try what is recommended in this video .. does any one else have any tips or tricks on how to find out if your engine is worn out....

note: there is a Shelby gt500 burnout at the beginning of video to keep this mustang related

If it doesn't run it's worn out

Compression pressure while cranking the engine over--with all 8 plugs removed and the throttle blocked open, and at sea level--should be 185+ psi on a good engine The lowest measured cylinder should be no less than 10% less of the highest.

I have a compression tester.. have never used it though lol
so by throttle blocked open what do you mean?

also if say I get 185+ with the lowest being no less than 10% of the highest
is there anything else I should do to check the condition of the engine?
and if the compression is not within those figures is it safe to say I need new rings or an overhaul?

Throttle blocked open means that you must have your throttle wide open while cranking your engine to check compression. You do this to get an accurate compression reading on each cylinder. I believe if your throttle is not open, you will limit the amount of air to each cylinder and affect the compression reading.

And if any of the cylinders are more than 10% different than the rest, you can put a little oil in those cylinders and test them again. If the compression rises, that is an indication of weak rings.
