automatic locks

hey I was just thinking.. how would I know if my car originally came with the remote to lock and unlock the doors, panic button remote.. did they all come with this option or is there something I could look for?....
Can I just get a new remote from ford?

You can buy the key fob off of eBay. They usually come with programming instructions. Just make sure you get one that's compatible with the model and year of your car.

Since you didn't state what year it is I couldn't say for sure. Is it equipped with power locks? If so, my guess would be that you could get a remote and program it for your car.

It should be good to go. Check eBay. I've bought one and it comes with instructions on how to program. Much cheaper than the dealer.

I just want the factory remote lol
and I am not going to just go out and buy one and hope I can program it..
I guess I will go to the dealer and ask if they can search by vin to see if its standard on my car and then go from there.

^^ little confused as what you want? Do you want a keyless entry that's good and for a reasonable price? Then go viper.. Or one from a ford dealership that might cost you an arm and a leg.

I have a 2000 Mustang Gt
My last new edge mustang had a remote as well as the keys. factory.
unlocks, locks the doors. panick button.. the factory remote.
My question is just.. Is there a way to know if my car came factory with the remote or not... did all mustangs in 99-04 come with this remote or was it an
extra option at time of purchase.

if it didn't originally come with my car then I don't care lol but if it did then I will find a replacement remote.

is there a way to check to see if this option is set up for my car or?

Yes you can buy one. Just find one on eBay. All you have do is turn on/off the electricity in your car like 8 times until the locks lock automatically. Voila you programmed you 3 dollar remote

Check Amazon, they have em for your car, less than 10 bucks. Your owner manual will have instructions. Should open trunk also.
