Rough idle

My 04 GT is idling very rough, it sounds like it wants to stall at red lights. I am going to clean the IACV today with some carb cleaner and pray that does the trick. Any other tips for diagnosing/fixing the problem?

Well I cleaned the IAC with no luck. However, when I was taking it off to clean, I removed the rubber hose below it that is attached the the plenum, and there seemed to be oil in it. I have been searching around to figure out what the hose is for to see if that's normal or not but I can't find anything. Anyone have any thoughts?

Im pretty sure that hose comes from the PCV valve. And I believe its normal to have a little oil in it. Its a vacuum that comes from the crank. so the air will probably have some oil particles in it as it travels through the system.

There is a way to install an inline catch can to collect the oil before it reaches the plenum if you are concerned about it. You can buy them, or even make your own at Home Depot.

If it's normal, than I'm ok with it. I just wanted to make sure that was the case, thank you!

Ive read advise saying that if an IAC is bad it should just be replaced. and that cleaning it wont do much if it already isnt working right. just fyi
