Just drain it and refill. You have no way of accurately topping it off now.
I used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in mine but they require a Mercon compatible automatic transmission fluid.
They were over filled at the factory which causes "windage" problems and makes them hard to shift.
The correct amount of fluid to refill them with is 3.2 quarts.
And spending the extra money on synthetic ATF is definitely worth it...

Another vote for Mobil 1 synthetic ATF, it's what I used in my 04 Mach when I replaced my clutch. Like you I spilled a lot and instead of just guessing how much I lost I just drained and refilled

I use Pennzoil Synchromesh, its like mother's milk for those transmissions. Correct fill is 3.2 quarts, do NOT fill till it spills out of the fill hole. Fill through the shifter and EXACTLY 3.2 quarts.

Lol not yet, the goddamn auto shop changed to be closed on Sundays... you know... on the weekend when most ppl have off. I swear to god this is THE worst auto shop in the military from not being able to reserve a lift to terrible hours to not even being open both weekend days. I was GOING to do it this weekend but looks like its going to be the 17th now. 2 more weeks of driving a hurt trans blah.

We used syncrhomesh in my roomate's trans back in the mid 2000s after he had his first one replaced under warranty at 31k miles and it ran another 30k flawlessly before he sold it and bought a truck.
