Tires

So I went to the track with nitrous ran a 10.7@101 in 1000 foot and decided to get some slicks, I want to keep my stock 17x8 and put slicks on them and launch at 5000-5500 rpms and hook. What slicks would fit that rim and not rub on a 04 mustang dropped 1.5 in rear and 1.7 in front?

Arkansas doesn't have a 1/4 mile track only 2 1000 foot tracks and 2 1/8 mile tracks.

Really? I have never seen a strictly 1000 ft track.

Overlooked your original post of saying your time was at a 1000ft. That's why assumed you were talking about 1/8. But then you mph would have been high for a 10.7.

Yeah I was spinning so bad i'd top out of 4rth gear at the finish line lol. So I'm just gonna get some drag radials can't hook with street tires at all just not sure what tires to go with I have slicks but they won't fit my new lowered stang. If I had some decent tires I could get it down to a low 10.

Ik my goal was to get into 10's on street tires at my track cause no other n/a 2v gt has ever got in the 10's on streets except me as far as I know from central at car scene. I'm really looking into radial or maybe slicks so I don't tear stuff up.

If you are crossing the traps having to shift into 5th you either need less gear or more tire. ID look into a 28x10.5 bias ply for those wheels. As hard as you are leaving the soft sidewall will take some of the hit off the drivetrain.

Will a 28 tire fit a lowered mustang? That's a pretty tall tire. I had trouble with a 28 tire on 15 inch rims almost rubbed on a non lowered mustang.

28 tall is 28 tall, doesn't matter if it's 15s or 17s, the overall diameter is the same. So if it fit before it'll fit again.

I fit them on my cobra. I do have rolled fenders however. The nice thing about a tire that tall is it lowers your trap rpm slightly.

He's right on gears or tires. I don't go into 4th in the 1/4 mile. With stock gears but still. You have 4.10s

Tires

Even with 4.10s and a stock height tire you shouldn't go into 5th in the quarter mile unless you are trapping 120+.... I redline 4th at 115mph with my 4.10s on a 25.9" tire. I don't drag race much, but the times I did I trapped 98-100.

It's all a numbers game. My car didn't want to hook on 26" tires and 3.73's so i moved up to 28" tires and 4.10's. Should put me crossing traps right at top of 4th at around 125. The 6 speed makes it much nicer though.
