I Made one for about $15-$20 on my fox and also my new edge. It has definitely picked up some oil from the fox (which has a vortech on it). The new edge, it has too, but not as Much.

Use an inline air to water separator (found in the air compressor section usually) from home depot or Harbor freight. You can pick up a 1/4 or a 3/8 depending on the size you want. I used a 1/4, and screwed two 1/4 air hose connectors in them. You'll need to buy some rubber hose, and I connected it between my pcv and the intake. Lastly I poked 5-7 holes in the filter in the separator so air can move more freely through it. Some leave it out, and/or put a brillo sponge in there too. I'll take some pics after work today.

Yeah I pieced everything together minus the hose, from home depot. I got the hose at the auto parts store. But harbor freight has a few separators for cheap.

What exactly does a oil separator do? Is it like a second oil filter?

Not exactly. It helps to keep oil blow by into the combustion chamber from building up carbon deposits and sludge inside the intake and cylinder heads. They are usually found on high compression/ F.I. cars, but they catch blow by on most engines.
