My v6 to 2v 4.6 romeo swap..HELP NEEDED!!

Ok..let's just get this out of the way first..I know buying a v8 from the start would've been cheaper, but I didn't go that route..I like to get into **** and do it the hard way..I have my motor and I'm using my v6 t-45 tranny..I want to know EVERYTHING that is gonna be needed for this swap and after..tips and .02 are helpfull too..but only build wise and performance wise..no personal opinions on what I should've done..

First off the V-6 doesn't use a T-45 it is a T-5. You're going to have to get a transmission out of a GT or a Quicktime bellhousing and a driveshaft spacer (or McCleod bellhousing spacer) to make the T-5 work which I do not recommend.

You will need pretty much a complete donor car to properly do the V8 conversion. Harness, ECM, cluster, fuel system, motor/trans/rear. I mean I know you said that you like to do things the hard way and I'm not one of those "work smarter not harder" ppl (work smarter AND harder) but you really will save money or at least be cost neutral if you sell your V6 and then buy a GT. Just my $.02 having been there and done that.

The t-45s were in the gts at one point though..I'm wanting to keep it for now..I've got most of the motor accessories...and what exactly would I need for the fuel system?

And the reason I'm building a gt instead of just buying one..is INSURANCE lol. already had 1 uninsured wreck so its through the roof right now just for my v6 and I don't need it any higher

GTS? Like the 94/95 Mustang GTS? All manual Mustangs in 94/95 were the T-5. All 96-04 V6 cars have a T-5, all 96-00 (and some really early 01s) V8s are T-45. All 01.5-04 V8s are 3650s minus the 03/04 Terminators with the T-56.

I will say this though, if you have an uninsured wreck on your record already and then you get into another accident (even if not your fault) and are carrying V6 insurance on a V8 car and the other party has a lawyer with half a brain... well... prepare thy anus.

Hold on, do you have T-5 or a T-45? If the trans is out of a V6 its a T-5 which is not the same thing and you can't use it in a V8 swap unless you get an expensive aftermarket bellhousing and bellhousing spacer.

I have the t-45 in my v6. Not sure how it got there but it did. I've already taken it to my buddies shop and had it confirmed.

A t-45 doesn't physically bolt to the V6. Post a pic of what you have.

"**** happens" uninsured accident doesn't fall in that category. Easily avoided.

Then you shouldn't have been driving. Period. God forbid you severely injured someone and your lack insurance made them bankrupt. Are you serious?

My v6 to 2v 4.6 romeo swap..HELP NEEDED!!

Sell it all and buy a GT

Or save a couple thousand and put down on a Mach 1 or cobra

2V swap won't be enough to satisfy you
Would be different if you were doing a 4V swap.

Your going to need the whole Wiring, Modules , Engine , Transmission, Driveshaft, whole rear end, All the fluids,

GTs go for around 3-4,000 here
99-04 at least

Its not like I never had it...I had insurance just couldn't make the payment for it that month. My insurance now for full coverage is $250 a month on a v6. Yea I regret it. But I honestly don't want to talk about my problems and insurance. I want to talk mustangs. Is that a problem?

No, but the last post of you acting like an idiot, is. You just made everyone not want to help you, and made yourself look like a ******. Lol. Even though you don't want to hear it, you shouldn't drive without insurance. Now you are payin for it. Lucky for you it's only in high premiums. If you can't afford it I would go buy a Toyota corolla, and wait til you are 25. Then buy the mustang of your dreams.

Oh and btw, if you can't afford insurance premiums for a GT, how can you afford to swap a GT engine/transmission in it?

I can afford it and I'm pay in for it now...I apologize to everyone in this for acting like an immature childish *******..its a touchy subject to talk about my wreck because I almost died from hitting the grille of the truck when I went out the window. The **** still haunts me..but I honestly apologize and I really need help with this.

I did the swap in 2012. Needed a 8.8, gt motor, t-3650, ecu, engine harness, body harness, dash harness, k member (good time to go tubular), radiator, rad tubes, tuner, fan, driveshaft, 10 cases of beer, lots of cursing, exhaust... Other things I'm sure of to that I'm leaving out but worst part by far is wiring. If I had a do over I'd buy a gt/Mach/cobra....but I'm happy and have not had any issues yet and put 25k on it since swap.

I don't talk about it much becuz I kno some of the comments it will bring but next June when I get my refund check from my school I will be buying a cobra motor with tranny and wiring off eBay for around 9k and having a shop put it in with the other required parts.

Why did you need a dash harness? Those should've been the same. What did you do about motor mounts?
