Congrats! .. Glad to see you bought a GT and not a V6 like most young kids do!... Seeing as most end up posting a thread about " how to swap to a v8 "
Your 17... Do you work?.. have any money saved up?.. Cant really recommend anything if your broke lol
I assume you live at home and don't pay any bills hah so with that said.. sink as much money as you can into the car while you can!... Do it rite the first time! never buy parts and say " ill upgrade later "
if that was MY car... I would
tint the headlights and tail lights...
get a shorty entenna or cut yours
and new wheels.. or pasti dip, powder coat or paint your current ones.
Take the spoiler off..
Other then that, not much to do for appearance mods.
Then if you have money saved up or a job.. Go for gears and a tune
suspension, brakes .. build your car before your engine

I think you should definitely start off with the smoked OE-style one-piece headlights from AmericanMuscle. Nice stealthy clean look. If you're into having clean and fresh-looking paint, see if you can find a professional detailer in your area who can remove swirls, scratches, and oxidation from that 18yo vehicle.

Ik you want to do aesthetics first but I'd definitely recommend a custom tune, makes a world of difference.

A custom tune is the foundation of any performance mod on these Stangs - fact. CAI's are definitely, I mean definitely, overrated as well.

That's an awesome first car!
I always liked that green paint on those cars.
I'd start with the wheels first I think. If you live near a large metropolitan area, CL is a good place to search for wheels, on a budget, as well as many other parts.
I'd also experiment with taking the wing off of the trunk and see if you like the "wingless" look.
Before any performance mods, I recommend going through the car and making sure that all of the maintenance has been done... tuneup, filters, fluids changed, brakes inspected, that sort of thing.

Enjoy your car!

I agree, this should always be prioritized above all else when purchasing a used vehicle.

My advice having been there and done that. Either drive it as is and maintain it or sell it and get a more budget friendly DD. Even a good set of wheels and tires is going to be $1k minimum.

I know that's not what you want to hear but your time will come when you can afford what you really want and not pay out the *** for insurance either. I was car poor from 19-21 years old and the best thing I did was sell it and drive an Accord for 3 years until I got a promotion and saved up some $$.

For appearance mods i did this to my new edge when i first got it, smoked taillights, matte black valance, and decklid, gloss black hood decal, 8" shorty antenna, mach 1 chin spoiler, and re-tinted the windows to a darker black and a straigh pipe with 6" chrome tips, and rocker panels decals

I got a CAI just for the **** of it haha, and also the bama 4bank eliminator chip, currently looking into whether getting MILs, SR springs and a strut tower brace or SC style rims from AM
