Worth it?

$5300. 2000 mustang gt bone stock other than long tubes, x pipe with Flowmaster exhaust. 77k original miles and the person is the original owner. He still has the window sticker from the dealer. Black leather with 5 speed. New clutch 8k miles ago. New tires still on 245/45/17. Only problem is the abs light is on. He said it might be a speed sensor but not for sure. Clean title with the tags still up to date. Click image for larger version

I would make sure everything is working well and everything the owner is telling you is true but that sounds like an amazing deal. I bought one completely stock, 80k miles, for 8,500, and in my area that was a deal.

I'd take the light to a mechanic and see what he thinks before I'd buy. That's a great price though for those low miles. I got mine for 7.5k @ 116k miles... 03 and black though.

Most likely a GT with the badges, leather interior, the fog lights, and the cut outs for the exhaust. Yeah a v6 could put all that on.. But more likely it's just a GT.

I should have quoted. Is the car I quoted a GT or a v6? I only ask because of your name haha. And yeah, at first I thought the OPs car was a v6 because of the hood, but then I found that the big scoop didn't come out until later

ABS light is likely a wheel sensor. Could be the abs controller though. If you don't care about ABS you can always just pull the bulb out of the cluster and leave it alone. For $5300 that is a good deal. Guarandamntee if you show up with $5k he'll take it but I'd try for $4500. Money talks.

6k for a 99-04 v-6 in my area. 5k for a v-8 would be a great deal.

Its all in the location and where you look. Finding one on a big Mustang forum that is local or semi-local is often the best way to get a deal because other enthusiasts realistically know what the car is worth and know others will too. CL and Autotrader... def not autotrader but CL you can find deals.

But yes too many ppl think THEIR car is worth more because XYZ. No... no it isn't. You also have to factor in street value vs KBB as well. A low mileage Mach 1, for example, might book at $18k. No way in hell it is going to ever sell for close to that because for that price or very slightly more you can get a Terminator or Coyote. Real street value for the NA 4Vs with low mileage is $14k tops and that had better be for a Mach in a rare color or something.

Low mileage termi's go for around 18-20k here in Texas (the ones I saw when I was looking at least) and the Mach's went for 15k.... They have dropped a little though I think.

I truly believe mustangs go for more down here in Texas because they aren't just winter cars. In Texas, only like 1 month do you have potential for snow bad enough to not bring the stang out. In other parts of the US it can be like 4-5 months lol. I mean didn't Colorado get snow the other day? Not sure lol. You can have fun longer in the stangs down here without having to put it up so try go for more. That's my theory at least

lol Right! I was going to pay 7k for a nice high miles v-6 convertible. But it got sold before my money came in. I invested 5,500 in my 99 v-6 last year to bring it back from the dead. I should get an antique tag before it has a serious problem.
Now that it is not tax time there is a v-8 with some serious mods for 7k. He probably dogged it all to hell and back. When I see a lot of mods without a older mans writing style I know it has been through the ringer.
Some people might say this gt looks like bad a@@ rice, but it is worth 10k. LOL v-6 side scoops.

I'm sure that you have made tons of power with that build, and it must be a blast to drive, but the power your making can't be supported by the car. Unless you rebuild everything else, things are going to start failing faster than your quarter mile.

The hood n kit would have to go. Then a fresh coat of paint would bring the car a long way. I am just hypothetically speaking. A 2-2.5k investment would burn out his (sarcastically) creative style.

77k on odometer. New tires, brakes. Has short throw shifter, long tubes, catted x pipe with Flowmaster 40s. Fully loaded inside. Black leather no rip. Mach audio. Accel coil plugs? But bone stock engine. Not even a CAI. Also it's lower. He said the springs were cut.

The wife want it gone so he sold it. He told me two problems. Valve Covers leaking which is the gaskets. I got a quote for $350 out the door. Also the ABS light is on. Supposed a speed sensor but who knows. Doesn't bother me. That's all I can tell for now. Have work so I can't mess with the car for now.

Figured out today I have 3.73 gears in. My speedo is off by 5 and at 75 mph I'm at 2200-2300 Rpms. My 98 gt with 3.27 was sitting under 2k Rpms. So I looked up on AM the gear ratios and saw that 3.73 matched my shift points?
