I am curious to see how it holds up after lowering it and raising it back up. Keep us posted please.

That can't be good. I doubt it will hold up with the fold.

Either that top was already sunbeaten/in bad condition or plast-dip just made it look like a sh*t part you grabbed from the junkyard.

I love Plasti Dip and I have used it on tons of stuff over the years.... I too am a cheap-***, and I dig your experiment. If the top was already shot, then why the hell not try it? I dont have a ragtop, but id like to know how this turns out.

I'm betting it cracks and flakes everywhere when you put the top down. There is one correct fix for the top and that is replacing it with a new one.

It will just be permanent and your roof wont close as well since it will make it some what stiff... but that dip wont be coming off

i stay in an apartment with a parking garage so i felt it would be kinda pointless to take a pic in there (bad lighting).. so i put the top down and drove about 20 mins to work.. and here is how it looked after i let it back up Click image for larger version

Looks like it came out alright. Just curious, why did you choose to use plasti dip? They do make fabric paint that cost about the same. I've painted the top to my jeep many years ago. I used fabric paint. It came out great and held up for years until I traded it in.

Yeah, it doesn't look bad.
Another coat would probably take care of the "dry" areas...

Yeah it looks like it's holding up. Probably won't last too long though, depending on how much you lower and put back up the top. This is the reason I didn't get a vert... Extra problems which a college kid doesn't need. When that starts wearing out get vinyl paint, and ride the top out til it dies Hehehe

Looks really good, you should even it out a bit though. Better than dropping several hundred for a new one

I dig it Riverdale. a $6 can of Plasti Dip and your roof is good to go for the season... even if you had to do it once a year, its cheaper than a new top.

Looks pretty good in the pics...especially if it was real bad before the PlastiDip.

That stuff is pretty tough. I bet it will hold out better than what some people think it will.
