Wow, A really tough question.

I guess your talking about a stock no mod V6 with a 2.73 rear automatic.

If this is it: You need to probably go to 3.73 or 4.11 rear end gears. A good tuner, A CAI and a set of performance mufflers.

You still may get beat but it will be close.

You make more power and are a better driver that's how. And if the V6 owner does mods then it becomes an "arms race". Someone is always going to be faster.

This has been answered before. People will fight over it but the numbers say that stock vs stock they are a drivers race. Put a tune, plenum, and gears on it and you should win.

Realistically they are a drivers race.. But some people think the v6's are "a whole second faster on the track"..... Lol. No.

I can at least say I have driven both. New v6's are impressive.

That being said... Don't be afraid of them. I'm not ..... If you can drive a little better than you will take it

so if they are the same... then why does everyone praise how great the v6 is now?.. because I have driven a few new edges as well as I own one and its far from anything impressive lol.. if the new sixxer is equal then I honestly cant see why someone wouldn't just get the newer v8

The 3.7 puts down at the tires what the 4.6 2v does at the crank. Given, the 2v 4.6 makes more power below 2500 rpm, after that, the 3.7 owns it.

Performance wise, the 3.7 is nearly the equal of the 3v 4.6.

Because it's a v6, and it's competing with v8's lol. For many 300 hp is plenty... And if you don't have the extra cash for a GT it's a awesome bang for your buck. Drive a Prius and see how impressive your GT is

this made me laugh. Well... look at it this way... the new v6 are "equal" to the old GT's. If you don't see what's good about that... well... If you compare the new V6 to the older V6 stock for stock i don't see the old ones standing a chance.

The old v6's will literally get raped. The only good thing about the 4.6's is that they do have more tq and higher gear ratio unless the v6 has performance package. The v6 weighs more than the 2v, an I'm not sure if both wheels spin or not like a GT. If you throw a tune and plenum, with gears you will prolly have a lighter car with 40 ISH crank tq more. Not 100% on hp.

I have both... a 2012 V6 and an Edge GT.

The Cyclone is slightly faster (both stock)...tested several times. My wife and I race around town frequently.

However, I think the 4.6 GT is more fun, because it has better low end torque and is way easier to powerslide around corners.

The Cyclone is a pretty impressive engine, especially for the price. Plus the car handles better then youd expect from a Mustang.
