Help with my new nitrous kit

Hey I just bought a zex kit off of a guy in my town and it has all the switches and compents and came with a purge kit ...got it for a 250 and came with the zex blackout bottle my question is where is a cheaper but still effective elected electronic bottle opener and can I run a 100 shot on stock timing and 93 octane?

Rap is never around when you need him...
Luckily, we also have Ish! He posted a very nice nitrous "write up" just yesterday.
I'm not much help on the remote bottle opener except to say, "Google it".

That looks like a nice find though! Should be fun!

My main concerns are the bottle opener and the timming

ZEX sells one, it's like $2xx I think.

And I'd cut timing anyway for a 100 shot.

You could do a 50 shot with 93 octane and no tune.

I did 100 wet with no tune on 93. No issues. The motor really loved it smoked tires at 50 on 555r's when I hit the switch

The remote bottle openers are just a preference, I have never ran one as the bottle in my Z28 is behind the passenger seat and the rear seats are gone. So I had no issues turning around and opening the bottle.

I will probably be going with the NX remote bottle opener. I know of several people who have ran them for years with no issues. It's a bit pricey, but it's one of the best.

AUTOMATIC REMOTE BOTTLE OPENER

I would also highly recommend a window switch and bottle warmer if you don't already have those.

As for a 100 shot, I'm not a 4.6 guy so I can't tell you for sure. I would go one stage colder plugs and go for it, assuming you have some head room with the tune. Meaning, if you are running a 93 octane tune, probably don't want to spray it without a tune. If you're on an 89 or stock tune, you should have enough headroom for timing with a 100 shot. If you already have a BAMA tune, then I would just call them and have them make a tune for ya.

Also, for consistent hits, make sure the bottle pressure is between 950 - 1050. This is the main reason for the bottle warmer.

The bottle on my 97 was in the trunk. I had zex bottle opener and it was so sweet. I replaced the pony in the grill with a snake and drilled a hole in its mouth and ran the purge out the snakes mouth.

So if I have it tuned to my 93 tune from my sct tuner, I can't spray it without any problems? And if I have it tuned to my 89 tune and I spray. I should be good to go?

I get the timing and all but I bought my car with cams and it had been on a dyno and it's been tuned, came with the sct tuner with 2 tunes on it, 89 and 93... To be safe, I shouldn't spray it unless I get a tune specifically for the n20+cams is what I'm getting correct?

Just get a dyno tune. Running the 89 tune with 93 octane is only for a little headway with the timing. There are still other factors to consider such as the car running lean. Dyno tune for safety plus you will make a bit better power out of it.

So for now? i should be good spraying with the 89 tune with 93 octane?

Yea if you have to go without an updated tune then use the 89 tune with 93 octane. That will give you a bit of head room with the timing.

Gotcha. How would I be able to tell if I don't have enough head room?

A good indicator of not enough "headroom", will be a hole in the top of one or more pistons..
