Since the rest work, I would lean towards the sensor. I imagine there is a way to pull the sensor and check it, but really it could be many different things.
I would guess the sensor could be broken,
The sensor mounting could be damaged/broken and not holding it right,
It could have just fallen out or the tranny could have been worked on and never put back properly.
I'd bet there are more possibilities, but I wouldn't jump right to buying a new one. If it were me, I would go to a Ford dealer and say "Help!" and then go from there lol. If I wanted to do it myself, I would find out how to pull it, and how it works, then try it on my own and see if the sensor is functioning- as if it needs to be pushed on, or moved a certain way. I imagine it is just pressure based. But if the dealer says what's up, then you can fix it yourself. If you diagnose it yourself, then just fix it yourself. I definitely wouldn't be paying for that. Experience from Jason can aide in the process of it, since he is a bit familiar.
Also, nice looking 'Stang, Jason.
