Creaking when steering

I have a 96 gt with about 63k miles on it. When I move the wheel right or left slightly it makes an ear screeching noise. I know it's not the tires rubbing on anything but I looked at it yesterday and there seemed to be some rust or corroded metal. Could it be a control arm or part of the steering column? Thanks for any advice

It was raining last night and I couldn't hear the noise. Is it still the ball joints?

You won't hear it while normal driving. You'll hear it when you hit a bump/speed bump or any bumps, when your turning, and sometimes when you hop in the car you'll hear it.

Yeah its your ball joint grease it if possible or change it. My 94 made the same noise I got lucky it was dry of grease. No more squeaks.

Ball joint(s)

I would change the lower ball joints ASAP, I just had mine on my drivers side go out last weekend and the arm shaved my rim like chewbacca at a salon, it ruined my rim and almost my axel, I had to get it towed. ): and a ball joint is cheap, but make sure you do both sides!
