373 gears installation

So my 373 Gears just came in from AM and my uncle who is a pep-boys mechanic is going to install them. What's a good price for this installation?

OP-That's going to really differ from shop to shop but I had mine install for close to $300. I too would recommend staying away from the dealer as they're going to be charging literally an arm and a leg.

A case of beer and a pizza. That's what my father in law charged to do the entire AC system install in the wife's CRV after it suffered the "black death" which is known to happen to 02-06 models. I obviously paid for all the parts.

Depends on who does it. I paid $350 and that included the fluids.

Hahaha, this thread makes me laugh. I got a quote from my local ford stealership here and they said 900-1000 and it would void the warranty. I said, "Would you mind explaining why a ford part installed by a ford dealership would void a ford warranty, when in fact, ford themselves also offer the 373's in other mustangs?" ****ing tards.

Wish I had someone reasonable/knowledgeable in town that would do it for cheap, like 500-600. My mechanic is looking for 800, another shop in town wants 1400, Ford wants 1000, etc etc

Buddy of mine installs gears for 200$ but there are a lot of YouTube videos on it, it's easy if you have hand tools.

At least it is for me anyway and hell im only 21.

I keep forgetting and then remembering during work. I'll try calling them later today hopefully. It is the one at 7202 W 116th Ave, Broomfield? (Not even sure if there are multiple). And I'd drive down there, have the 4.10's installed and then hate myself during the drive back up north probably lol If they can do it well without trying to charge me 1000, then it sounds pretty good

Yeah there's only one shop. They shouldn't charge you that much.

What'd you pay to change the gears out?

And I did remember to call them, but then the guy said he call me back with a quote and ended up calling me while I was at work. According to the voicemail he needs something specified about the diff being rebuilt

Mine situation was slightly different since I had an IRS in my old one. I paid $200 and we did it as a side job (not through the shop) on the condition that I helped Mike install it.

He is probably referring to a bearing kit. Did you order one when you ordered your gears?

Yessir, unfortunately, I believe the only one for the 7.5" was this one Motive Mustang Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit (7.5in) R7.5FRMK (79-85 V8; 86-10 V6) - Free Shipping

But if it gets the job done, it gets the job done. And I suppose I'll know how much they'll run me for it soon enough

That kit should be fine. Hopefully they won't charge too much.

Okay, so, they suggested a Torsen carrier and to replace all the bearings and stuff. With that and labor, they quoted me two thousand dollars

Yup. I'm just going to go with either my family mechanic ($800), or Ford ($1000)

Are they giving you the price on the parts? They must be adding 300% to the parts

For my mechanic and Ford, it's solely labor. For Stang Auto, it was parts + labor, and they didn't tell me the separate prices

No idea lol maybe they just really don't want to do it. I think I'll go with my family mechanic, though I'm not sure if he warranties labor. I know Ford does. I'll have to ask him

Did you ask what they would charge if they didn't do the Torsen?

Alex, the $300 install you paid for yours is the same price offered to me on by a local private garage that is also a Mustang enthusiast and club meet location. This seems like a good place to bring my 14Gt since he's a 67 GT owner and restored it himself and sponsor of that classic car club. So...he must be a safer choice on Mustang work is my thought. (Such a gamble with mechanics) or you can pay the dealership crazy money and feel it will be done correctly or will be corrected if it's not at first.
But then I see the really high prices others on here had to pay and I wonder if my mechanic said 300 not knowing I bought the FRPP 3.73 full kit with the bearings and doodads and widgets to make sure nothing is going to not fit perfect. Is the 300 price for just the gears themselves and not all the rest of the full kit? If so, I am so over my budget.
Would a 14GT with 26k miles (manual) really need that full kit or is it most likely just fine if I have them do only gears to lower costs. I am only concerned that I will have noise back there and it drive me crazy.
Sorry for long post.
SHORT VERSION are you guys all talking prices for only the gears or the whole install kit from AM with all the bearings etc.
Is the full kit a much bigger install job.

My 600 was for the whole FRPP kit and labor was 300 or a little less.
