Power Steering Hose??? I do Not understand!!

I have a 1998 mustang gt
Can someone please find me the right hose that goes from the power steering pump to the "hydroboost" the thing located on driver side firewall. I have tried 3 different hoses from autozone and everyone of them fit perfectly into the pump but the fitting on the side that screws into the hydroboost is ALWAYS too small. I do not understand the problem. Am I missing something or what ?? Click image for larger version

No.
The problem is, you have a "bastard year car", as Scotty would say, I think...
It might be one of the parts that is shared with the New Edge cars. I don't know for certain.
Your local Ford dealer should know though. Or try one of the internet Ford parts dealers to track down a part number.

I don't know. In the picture, your hydro-boost looks different than my 01.
Try Rockauto and see if the hose for a 98 is different than the other years.

Ya I just looked and there hoses are all the same ones from autozone that I have already tried. I talked to the person that's been helping me at autozone and they said they even gave me one from a 1999 because it had a bigger fitting on one end and that one didn't work either. I really don't understand the problem at all. Is there fittings that I can use? The hydroboost side just needs to be a little bigger. Worst comes to worst I might just run no power steering what do you think? One problem is that I don't have the old hose anymore to use as an example. It got thrown away.

Both of the fittings are the same size on my car.
Maybe there was an adaptor on the old hose that you were supposed to remove and reuse?
Hopefully Scotty will chime in, in the morning. He'll know, since he has the same year car.

And remember...

No power steering means no power brakes, on these cars.

Why would that be? The brakes are all still hooked up and the brake fluid is still there.

Ya maybe there was but from what I can remember there wasn't any adapter. But that was a really long time ago. Ya hopefully he will jump on tomorrow maybe he can take a picture of his for me so I have something to go by. That would really help me out a lot. I'm thinking about going to pick n pull and see what I can find if Scotty can't get me a picture.

The hose that you have disconnected is what provides the power assist to the brakes.
That's what the Hydro-boost is.
No more vacuum assist. It's hydraulic.

Great lol. Now I really hope someone can get me a picture of a 1998. Cause this problem is really dumb. I've tried so many different hoses.

Update for anyone else who may have this problem. Which most likely is only me because when I had cut the old hose off I accidently threw away a piece. Went to pick and pull today and found out I was missing this piece which autozone/oreilleys does not carry. And it doesn't come with it when you order a hose. Click image for larger version
