Sensor 2 Bank 1 question.

Ok guys. Wanna see if anybody can help me out. I recently had my check engine light come on my 01 GT and my car will miss occasionally when running at cruising speed. It's not a real bad miss but it's noticeably then it will go away. I went to the local mechanic and he hooked up the scanner and said it was sensor 2 bank 1. Would that cause my car to miss? I didn't think a downstream 02 sensor would cause it to miss but I might be wrong. Thanks in advance!!

If thats what the scanner reads, then its probably the problem. The 02 sensors help regulate air/fuel ratio. An improper ratio could cause misfire symptoms.

The down stream 02 sensors are only to make sure the cats are working from what I understand. The upstream sensors do monitor air/fuel ratio.

Either way, the car is misfiring, and the scanner says o2 sensor... That would be the first part I change.

I had a bad 02 sensor in my 04 V6 & it made it run a little crappier. Not absolutely positive but I think that's the Drivers side Front Sensor. You might want to pull & clean your MAF Sensor while you're at it as a dirty one will make your car run like chit !!!
If you're running a C.A.I. clean the air filter too. You'll see an improvement for sure.
