98 Mustang GT Mods

Okay, I have a 98' canary GT boned stock, and money to spend on it. First things first, I need more power and have been considering a new exhaust, (which i badly need) and a new throttle body. Are there any more parts that are great for power while also great on my wallet? Im looking for parts that total under $650.00. Thanks

Nice 98!

For the npi 4.6 cars, the best mod for power is a pi swap but thats probably going to run you over $650. If I were you id go with an mid pipe, gears, pi intake swap or a tuner. The mid pipe, pi intake and tuner will probably be around $650 or so if you install yourself. Or you could do gears first instead. Other bolt ons like a throttle body/plenum and pulleys add power but don't do as much for how much they cost.

Yellow one yours? It's nice! Love yellow mustangs! Wish I could've found one during my search. I start with exhaust first.

600$ won't get you too far unfortunately with the NPI motors. They really need the pi swap. That's too much though so if say tuner and gears. You'll really feel a big pick up with the seat of your pants feel.

Agreed, NPI... will be meh no matter what you do. But if you need exhaust then a midpipe/catback will be in the $400-$500 range new and then you can get a new PI intake for $215.

You really aren't going to be able to do anything really respectable with the car until the $1500-$2k mark once you factor in gears, suspension, tune, plenum/tb/exhaust/PI stuffs etc...

Not trying to be a wet blanket, just letting you know what you are realistically looking at. Also going to want to do new plugs/wires/oil/all the tune up stuffs regardless which will run $100-$150.

thanks for the help! Looks like ill have my hands full with raising money before I go into depth of engine mods. But, since the topic is on exhaust, what would you all recommend?

I would go so far as to say the topic on exhaust has been... exhausted. Search or youtube which one you think sounds the best to you. They are all within 1-2hp of each other for a bolt on car.
