Please help what is this part

Ok so was doing the transmission service and found this siting in pan. Don't know where it goes. Left it out transmission still runs fineClick image for larger version

It's a plug that they used during assembly and just left it in the pan.
It's normal...

Lol that thing had my father freaking out when he pulled the pan in his truck for its first service. Totally normal. You just remove it and go about your business.

It plugs the trans dipstick hole during shipping. Easier for them to just design it to fall into the pan during initial install and not worry about it. Only bad thing is its scared the crap out of a lot of ppl when they drop the pan for the first time lol.

Oh ok that makes sense. And it pops off when you pull the dipstick for the first time I'm guessing? Ok.

Well that means my trans never had a service for over 130 k or it's a new transmission. Lol. Who ever owned this car sucked at keeping her together. Now I found out it was in a wreck on page side. I also need to buy a new bumper. Clips are broken. It works for now no rush and the good has a crack underneath
