I run 18x8s on a lowered car with no rub. You are either lowered too much, tires are too fat, offset is wrong or a combination of two or more of those.

Well those tires are ridiculously too tall for up front at 27.2" so that is probably why. Stock diameter is 25.7". You need new tires.

Go on www.tirerack.com and look at different brands/sizes and make your selection. Stock diameter is 25.7" but if you are lowered or even if you aren't you are also going to have to worry about your width. I'm assuming your Cobra wheels are replica wheels so the offset/backspacing should be stock or close to stock.

You also do not have to buy from tirerack but its a good tool to use for tire selection. Not sure why you have such tall tires on the front, but using tirerack can let you know what diameters and appx width you'll be dealing with.

Wait are these 17s or 18s because you said they were 235/55/17 but then you are asking if 265/35/18s would work.

Your new rims still have tires on them? Check the size and report back. If not check behind the rim. Usually it will say 17 x 7.5 or 18x9 etc.
