Steering squeak

I heard there's been a previous write up on how to shorten the steering shaft which causes steering squeak in our cars? I can't find it because I only use the app and it's difficult to navigate searches... I've already change the ball joints and tie rod end and I'm completely annoyed struts are next ( hopefully going to coil overs)

It's not the steering shaft but the sleeves to the mounting bolts for the steering rack. You can but new ones that are already shortened for like $12 or just pull your old ones and grind then down. Search for cliffyk's Web page he had a write up with pics

Just changing the rack bushings will make a big difference. The drivers side bushing gets soaked with oil whenever the oil is changed and it deteriorates.
Cliffy's website is paladinmicro.com
Much of the valuable advice that he was giving on here, is on that website, including the technical article that he wrote about the steering rack bushing mod.
