painting the hood

hey guys! im thinking about plasti-dipping my hood, but i wanna leave the scoop the original color.. (tell me your thoughts on that) i know how to remove the scoop (6 bolts under the heat shield) but do you think im better off removing the hood and then painting, or just leaving it on and covering the area around it with garbage bags? i want it to look good.

I think that I would leave the hood on the car and just mask it off real good.
