Bama tuners

I'm looking at buying a tuner from AM. Either the diablo sport or the cheap 4 bank eliminator. I like the small turn dial selector on the 4 bank. But i like the extra options on the diablo sport. Have any of you used one of thees tuners? Pros and cons? I have installed some good bolt ons and would really like to get the potential HP to the wheels. BBK CAI. 90 MM throttle body. BBk MAF. C&L Plentum. Off road X. Accel coils (comparable to stock). Under drives.
Thanks for your input.

What was the reason behind getting a 90 mm throttle body..?

But Diablo sport is a good tuner, alot of people will agree. I've never used the 4 bank so I can't comment..

Overall with the can tune and those bolt ons. You'll probably get 50 HP total.

Why not just get an SCT X4? I wouldn't even bother with anything else.

Idk about 50 hp gain...

How much would you say then?

CAI: 5-10HP
Pullies - 7-10 HP
Throttle Body + Plenum - 11-13HP
MAF - ?? 0-5 HP maybe, not sure.

With tune, I'd say 50 is a good estimation point.

If I had to give a "guess" it'd be solid 20-30. But I have no dyno experience and no experience with the 2v 4.6 and no experience with those particular parts.

Maybe you'd get 50 out of a cai/tb/manifold/off-road x-pipe + tune on a new 5.0 but idk about the 4.6...

Probably. I'm just trying to make OP not feel too bad about spending all that money for mediocre gains.

If you add up the highest baseline numbers, it would come out around 30ish HP. Lowest baselines, would be around 23 HP. Of course this is not a dyno so anything is possible.

I'm gonna tell you right now OP once you tune, you never go back. Forget the #'s. Its a whole new beast.

Look at my signature. Decent amount of mods. Only thing on the motor is the tune. That should say something (besides the fact that I can't afford cams right now, ha).

+1 I set my car back to stock tune and exhaust and it's a slug now. Tune and exhaust actually made a difference

Even on my mostly stock 03 GT auto, the tunes I got a few years ago from AM/Bama for the SCT wakes the car up big time. Combined with the Jmod on my tranny the car shifts really tight, crisp and will easily chirp the tires from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd although I normally drive like granny.

I went back to stock a couple of weeks ago to troubleshoot a misfire and the car drove like a slug in comparison.

Can't say what HP gains, if any, you will get but it certainly does make the car a heck of a lot more fun to drive. At least for an automatic.

Has anybody used the 4 bank eliminator chip from AM? Do you have to remove it from your computer to get new tunes? That looks to be the case as far as I can tell. I just want to be sure. And I can't find the answer to my question on AM.

If you have an OBD2 car or up, get the SCT tuner. Done. Also, do your due diligence on all the different tuning companies.

Hey,

Good question and from previous experience I would shoot for the SF4 tuner. It's going to be a lot easier to use and despite your long mod list if you were to ever need a revision it would have to be taken off the car and mailed back to us to be setup. Let me know if you have any questions at all or feel free to shoot me a PM, I'm always here to help!

Good ricer math. Bolt-on GTs dyno in the 250-260whp range. Stock GTs dyno 230 ish so 260-230=30. Now if you're talking crank numbers then you might be close.

OP Go with a real handheld tuner, the chips tend to be hit or miss as far as reliability.
