So I know another guy who is supposedly making them for our cars. And he is local to me also. Pete from Fully Torqued Racing. I've met him a few times, should be a good design once he's done with it.

Hmmm.
You should start doing some data logging and find out what the hell is wrong with the tune before it destroys your engine.
Whatever it is, it seems to be affecting only bank 1.

My friend is coming over after work and is going to help diagnose the issue. I'll see if he can bring his compression tester. Check all the cylinders this time.

I'm honestly considering grabbing a crown vic engine. I found one with 76k on it for $650. Would fix my smoking issue at the same time and be more reliable than the current one with 150k.

That would fix the smoking problem but there is something wrong with the engine management that needs to be addressed. Whether it is related to the tune or something else is what you need to figure out.

I'm kinda suspicious that the #1bank is running too lean.

Have you checked for any codes?

Probably wouldn't show up as a problem because your downstream 02's are turned off.

Sorry to tell you, but my guess is it's just plan old wore out, How is you oil pressure if low it's an indication of excessive bearing wear. JMAO

Bama tune ftw? You ever get a wideband on there? $650 for that motor with those miles is steep around here but prices may vary. Plan on replacing the intake like I am going to have to. Make sure any motor you get is an 04-up for the 8 thread plugs.

Ideally you could get a 02-05 Explorer motor as those are WAP blocks and try for an 04 or 05 for the 8 thread heads. $$$$ tho which is why I didn't. Still mad I sold my Teksid and oem forged crank... Argh

Around here that is fairly average for that engine with those miles. Actually any 4.6 with that low of miles around here is a unicorn.

Eh, I'd jump on it then. They're going to be easy miles and 76k on a 4.6L is just getting broken in.

Thats what i'm thinking. Gives me more time to plan that coyote swap instead of worrying about when the current engine is going to implode lmao.

I gotta run it by my friend though. IF i did the 4.6 swap then i would only be able to do it at his place, he has all the equipment and everything to do it. I don't have crap. He's coming over in a little bit to help diagnose.

Well I'd find out for sure what is causing that to happen with those plugs... I mean, ARE you still on the Bama tune? Would not want you to swap the motor and everything and have the same thing happen because it was a tune issue or something else.

Well she's alive again and purring on all 8. All plugs were changed out to NGKs. My friend looked at the plugs and thinks they got hit by something.

You think you are detonating at higher RPM at the track?

Some people seem to think higher tolerances in the bearings from over time. Others think detonation. I swapped to a set of NGKs so we will see.

On another hand. Tow hook going in shortly. Got the bumper off but now I have work. Will mock it up later.

Is there a way to add a hook but less noticeable? You never know when that might come in handy

If you want it to sit inside of the bumper you could mount the bracket on the back side of the crash support instead of on the front. It is fully functional BTW, I even put the car in neutral and pulled it about 15 feet just with my hand.

Nice looking tow hook.

My first thought was to paint it black so the Camaro fans don't see it and make their knucklehead comments.

Then, I remembered, Camaro owners only see our tail lights.

I could have gotten it black if I wanted. Or even red, but I decided to go with the silver finish.

Looks good!

I've been kicking around the idea to make one that works like a trailer hitch receiver. So that the hook can be removed when not at the track.

The hook itself can actually screw out. So if I don't want it as easily seen I can just unscrew it without even touching the bumper.

What is the brand name/model # and where did you buy it for future reference?

Thanks for sharing the mod.

Fully Torqued Racing - High Performance Suspension, Brakes, and Aerodynamics

Small company that recently started (they are actually local to me). I've actually met the owner on multiple occasions. Cool dude and very talented. He designed a Watts Link for the 99-04 cars, hands down the best Watts Link on the market. He is also developing a bracket set up to allow the 99-04 Mustang to run the 14" 4 piston brembos that came on the 2011+ Mustangs, those he has kept me in the loop with. I believe he is also making a diffuser for us also.
