2001 Bullitt Build Thread

Ok so my back end has been really stiff compared to my front and i started to get really tired of it so I looked in the back. Turns out this entire time the car has literally been riding on the bump stops lol. I raised the back end a little bit.

I've heard you can usually cut bump stops a little bit. Would you guys say it's safe to do so? To give just a little bit extra travel. They are pretty damn big stops.

Half is what I've heard. May cut a little less than half.

I also heard the Bullitts came with a shorter pinion snubber above the axle than normal Mustangs. I'm wondering if I should get an aftermarket.

So..... Before or after the coyote swap? Lol

I legitimately would pay $2400 for Carbon Fiber doors. I absolutely hate how heavy these doors are. Any slight angle to either side and the door slams into you or away from you. -80lbs would be awesome

After... Way after.

Lol.
$30 per pound to lose 80 pounds seem like a lot but I have seen guys spend more than that, on full-on race cars, to lose those last few pounds.
It's pretty cool that someone is making those doors, though. I'd like to see them in person.

I wonder if they still have the side impact "crash bar" in them?

My 4th gen Camaro doors weighed a lot more... Actually had a girlfriend that couldn't open it when I parked in front of her house...

I honestly care more about how it feels when opening and shutting the door. I hate how heavy our doors are. If i'm facing uphill the door slams right back into me when i open it, and it takes a little bit to get out of these seats lol. But -80lbs off the car would be nice as well.

I'll have a little time the next few days. Tuesdays are my busiest days. Got a report from campus security as well as a regular police report.

Don't have the $ for an insurance deductible. So I'll have to look around and try to find the car. Guess the best I can do right now is get the paint transfer off.

YIKES!
That parking lot has sure been tough on your car.
Hopefully you will be able to find the car, and it will, hopefully, have some DHG paint on it.
From the photos, it looks like the damage occurred when someone was pulling out of the parking space... They might not have even realized that they hit your car.

Sucks

I guarantee they realized it.

**** like this is also why I always parked my Cobra and my 98GT the hell away from everything else and my Steeda will get the same treatment. Not always possible tho especially at a college.

Hopefully he can find the car with the DHG scrape on it.

It had to have been pulling in. The only exit to the lot is to the left of the car. If they would have pulled out and hit it then their nose would have faced the wrong way.

Do you have full coverage broad form? When this happened to me i made my claim and a police report and their was no deductible because it was a hit and run situation.

Yes. You might want to consider calling your insurance company and see what they have to say. Even if you don't have the money for the deductible, you can still collect the money for the balance of the damage.
Like Steve said, this may be an incident that falls under Uninsured Motorist, or something that doesn't have a deductible.

I do have uninsured motorist coverage. The reports will take a few days to be filed and i'm going home next week. So when i do i'll check with my dad exactly what type of coverage the car has.

This will be a vandalism claim, you'll get damage minus deductible, they actually cut my check on site, lol ($2200 after deductible). Keep in mind if you do go through insurance it's going to be on your CARFAX, but ur keeping it forever anyways right? That's how I looked at it. Pocketed the money, made the repairs myself

I'll talk to my friend at school. His dad has a body shop. Need my Cobra Side skirts and mirrors painted also. Might be the optimal time.

May as well while there is paint in the sprayer. Always best to turn something negative into something positive. Go for it! 👍

Like Dave73 said maybe there will be a positive spin on this? I was very angry and upset when this happened to me a few years ago but in the end it worked out, got my car fixed, and it ended up being less than the quote in the end and i got 500 or so in my pocket.

Nope. Insurance ****ed me. The way they classify a hit and run in California is under collision. Collision is the only coverage I don't have, so I'm ****ed. I have comprehensive and uninsured motorist, so if they would have stayed and it turns out they don't have insurance then I would have been covered. But it is basically being classified as if I hit someone, which is ****ing retarded.

Shop estimated $1700, and I get $0 from insurance. And I can't afford to fix it.

2001 Bullitt Build Thread

On the bright side. I rode along in my friends cars at a track day. The white car is an absolute beast and scares me every time I ride in it. The guy in the blue one picked me up since I wasn't going to race that day, he let me drive back about 2 hours since he was tired of driving after all the racing lol.

That is total ****... you might want to see how much extra collision is if you haven't already. For my 2000 in NJ (which is one of the worst insurance states) its only $15/mo more for full collision so I'm going to carry it when this thing is back on the road.

I was able to get most of it out. A lot of it was just paint transfer, there are a few small sections where paint was taken off my car, but nothing major. Will use touch up paint on it, other than that its just the dent, which isn't too noticeable if you aren't looking for it or are looking at the car straight on. Nothing much else i can do than live with it so i'm already over it. And of course the fact someone scraped the front bumper exactly 2 weeks later in the parking lot ( i backed in for a few days), good thing i was able to get all of that off since it was only paint transfer to my car. It just doesn't even phase me anymore what is happening. Nothing i can do about it, just going to get it all fixed and repainted and put away after college when i can finally get a DD.

Speaking of which, i absolutely love the new Focus RS. Will have to see if i can manage one of those after college.
