So do we need to PM Bucko or Janet to change the name of this thread to "2016 Spark build thread"? Lol.

Congrats man, enjoy the 40mpg+ with the stupid high gas prices you guys have out there. Maybe you can park it at your college without asshats keying it.

Congrats on having a reliable daily. NOW you get to really enjoy your mustang. I've never enjoyed mine more (and mine is still pretty new). It's just so nice to start a project on it and not have to worry about getting back together. Not to mention the mod list changes once you decide it doesn't need to be practical anymore. What did that little sucker cost you?

Ended up spending a bit more than I was going for, but I'm happy. Car itself was like 11k. It's a 2015, has a touch screen, Nav, leather, all power, opted for an extended 5 year bumper to bumper warranty. Put $2500 down. Payments are like $162/mo for 72 months. Will definitely pay off sooner than that.

Mod list is still the same. Full tubular suspension up front, coyote, t56, wide *** wheels all around, gutted, and caged

Might black out the Chevy emblems. Window tint. Having my friend professionally cut and buff it with a ceramic clear coat (like opti coat or Ceramic Pro)

Reset the MPG when I left Sacramento. Drove about 100 miles to school. 40.2 mpg lol. That is 136% more than the Mustang (roughly 17 highway)

Ok, so its insurance time.

The dealership had a connection for a lady through Nationwide, so thats what i got for the Spark for the month. It is like $134 for fairly good coverage. I'm still going to do some shopping around. Did an online quote through Allstate for all the same coverages and it came out to $140 for BOTH the Spark and Mustang. Increased the coverages and dropped my deductibles and its at $160ish per month for both cars. I'm going to see if i can get a similar deal with the lady i talked to before. If not (which i'm sure i won't). I may call Allstate.

I pay about $100 per month to insure 3 trucks and the Mustang.
Those prices don't seem that bad for your age, specifically, the price for the two cars.

Contacted the person who set up my current insurance on the Spark through Nationwide. They ran numbers for the same exact coverages as i got quoted for All State and it came out to around $190ish. So i'll shop around some more. But probably going to change by the end of the month.

You do get what you pay for. We have USAA and anytime we have had an issue they really jump through hoops to take care of us. Also, they do FREE safelight chip repair. I've used that about 3 times this year alone. Get a chip, immediately get on the phone with them, and they send safelight out to wherever I am going to fix it before it becomes a crack. Sadly my daily has a cracked windshield now but my mustang has had 4 really bad chips and I have been able to save the windshield everytime.

Yeah i understand the whole get what you pay for. The Mustang i probably will drive under 2,000 miles per year from now on. And the daily, while it is new and i want to take care of it. It isn't that expensive in the grand scheme of things lol. Based off of my luck, i need to worry more about other people than random stuff on the road. Now if someone would only hit the Mustangs driver quarter panel in the same spot so i can get that fixed.

2001 Bullitt Build Thread

I have found AllState or progressive to be the cheapest. I used to have Esurance but now they have been bought by AllState and it seems like you get better rates working through an agent. I actually wonder if you can insure your Bullit with Hagerty. I know they insure Boss's and Shelby's they may insure a Bullit as a collector car.

I asked NCM (National Corvette Museum). They do collector and show cars also. But they wouldn't insure me because i'm under 26.

I didn't think about the age requirement. The quote you got from AllState actually did not sound too bad for two vehicles.

Yeah i probably am going to go with it. I'll cancel the current policy and then get the other started. I'm not even a week into the current one so i have time. I'll do it at the start of summer.

I pay $265 a mth for full broad form coverage with $500 deductibles on my 2, 2016s and have basic coverage without collison on my Mustangs, so 2 with full broad form coverage and 2 with just no fault liability basically so if I hit someone Im covered. Michigan is so utterly ridiculous with insurance it isnt funny!! I cant even think about the cost of it and it drives me nuts. Should be $265 a mth for full broad form coverage on all 4 cars!! And whats sad is for what I have its considered and is about as low as I could find it. I go through Meemic (my uncle and grandpa were teachers, its teachers insurance or anyone who works for a school district gets a heavy discount but they do insure others at a higher rate of course). I priced Allstate and it was over $300 for the coverage I have now. Have to stop talking about it, before it makes me puke and get violent

Location matters I priced it out for parents my home in Sacramento, and then changed the location to where I go to school, it dropped significantly. My area is a small town full of elderly people. A lot lower risk than Sac lol

I live in a good area, no issues, suburban, affluent society, lol. When I lived further north from here about 22 miles in a small town it was approx $5 cheaper per month. I did at one time move to what would be considered a busier, rougher area, and it did go up about 30% at that time, that was years ago, I would hate to see my bill now if I still lived there.

I am absolutely aware that different areas statistics effect the price of auto insurance, as Ive had more than my fair share of vehicles, and moved 5 times as an adult now to differnet cities each time, and 2 different counties as well all in Mi. Michigan is just high, look it up, its astounding how much higher than some states, its 300%-500% higher than some other states. It will make you feel good about what you pay most likely. Ok, gonna go punch something and throw up again since I spoke about Mi auto insurance again.

Yeah I think they did get stolen from there.

Where I live is in Oakland County (the other OC, ha, still in the top 10 or 15 wealthiest counties in the US or used to be). Im about 40-45 miles from Detroit ( or like the hipsters around here call it "The D" ). So not an issue as far as stolen vehicles being a contributer. Suburban area, nice, clean, safe, commmunity. Would be like me saying that Soccers insurance is high because he lives in LA (not sure how far he actually is away from there, prob further than I am from Detroit).

Its the taxes, and additonal requirements you have to carry on your policy that Mi insists be placed on auto insurance that makes it so high. High liability coverage, and also a ton of tax. Where the tax goes, you got me, its not helping to fix some of our countires worst roads, condition wise.

This does explain why there are so many vehicles in Detroit that arent insured though, imagine the premiums there?!!
