A square set up with sticky tires on it will make a world of a difference.

I won't be able to rebuild it until after college. And I don't want to deal with the 2v. Just want a freakin coyote swap. If it's done I'm buying a DD

It looks like that cylinder got hot!
At least it's not covered in oil.

When you do the compression test, remove all of the spark plugs, block the TB in the wide open position, and disable the fuel pump.

The test won't be accurate but just see if that cylinder still has compression then, and if it does, install a new spark plug and see how it runs.

Compression was good. But 2 of the plugs were grounded. Changed them and it is running fine now. I am honestly surprised the coils are still fine lmao

I'll need a DD before a swap can happen. After this I need to look into one sooner lol

Just double checking. But what is the number that I should have wanted from the compression test?

Mid 100's. Around 150ish is good.
It is more important that all of the cylinders are within about 10% of one another though.

I wonder what caused that?
JDF's car did basically the same thing at the track.

How much fuel did you have in your tank when this occurred?

When it happened about 1/2 tank....

When we tested it we just pulled that one plug and tested it. Didn't pull all of them or disconnect the fuel. Got 110, but like you said it probably isn't accurate. It idles fine, I haven't driven it yet though.

I think that's from detonation. I think your tune is too aggressive.

That's what my friend thought also...... It's a BAMA 91 race tune, never had an issue until now. Or maybe I got bad gas..... When I get back to school I'll use my tuner and put it onto the performance tune. That seriously scared me lol.

I think that it was definitely detonation, but I wonder what caused those two cylinders to lean out, get hot, and detonate?
This is something that you would expect to see on a boosted engine...

It could be any of those things you mentioned. I wonder if at 1/2 tank under hard cornering if the fuel could be sloshing around where the fuel pump might not be able to pick it up. Also some gas stations have mistaking my had 87 dumped in the super tanks

2001 Bullitt Build Thread

In any event it's nice to see somebody getting there money's worth out of their Mustang! Way to go Man!

I would also look into the fuel starvation a little more I believe it is a problem road racing Mustangs with Stock fuel tanks on 1/2 tank or less

I saw a few others like this where it was only one or two cylinders that detonated. Most people will tell you to go back to the stock tune when this happens. Since it only happened on this event and it was an extreme one (consistent high RPMs and heat), I'd probably ****** the timing a couple degrees with your tuner. Hopefully Bama left your tune open to edit. This lets you make edits to a tune, then flash it to the ECU. It doesn't let you advance timing though. I had to do this on several occasions before dataloging and requesting a new tune.

What range of RPM were you in most of the time? You could ****** a few dregrees in that area or ****** the global range. Global would be safer I would imagine.

When it happened I was at 5800rpm. I was usually at 4k+ through the run though.

I think there's a 4k to 6k range you can adjust, but you might want to ****** globally until you are satisfied you know what it was. You could try a colder plug too, if you plan on more fun like that in the future. I use Autolite 104's. NGK TR6's are one step colder than stock too. This is assuming the 2V's use the same plugs. Bama might have some suggestions too.
