Another what might it run post!

Hello again!
I parted ways with my 87 a few years ago and really have missed it. I recently picked up a 97 GT automatic. Got it cheap as it had a dead cylinder from a bad water leak from an intake swap.
And it came with a bunch of goodies!
I'm in the process of installing a 2003 PI engine into it with longtubes and that will fix up the running issues.
Here's a part list of what the car has going for it.

BBK cold air intake,
BBK 75mm throttle body,
BBK Pulleys,
unknown brand of ceramic coated longtube headers,
BBK non catted 2.5" xpipe, I have to mod it to get it to fit the headers.
Flowmaster 40's into 2.25" tailpipes,
Granatelli Fuego tuner,
3.73 gears,
Tokico struts/shocks and lowering springs,
Bullitt style 17x9 and 17x10.5 rims,
Slotted rotors with Hawk pads

I have no idea what to expect for power or what I may get in the quarter so if you have any idea what I can be looking forward to chime on in!

I got the car for $500, engine for $400 with the mentioned longtubes and a Meziere Water pump. ( No idler on it and I haven't figured out how to make it work with my serpentine setup.) $300 for the rims and a good pair of 285/40 17 for the rear. Altogether I have way less than $1500 into it and I haven't had to buy anything besides the mentioned parts, my time and oil for it! \

Its good to be here!

LOL...Funny Name...Aint heard that in 15 years (when I was in prison). Other inmates would ask "What's for dinner?" & the response was..."Trouser Trout...Want yours now".
But anyways, looks to me like you got a smokin' deal. Lots of good parts. A really good start for what you've got into $$$ wise. The bolt ons you have will only add minimal H.P.
I'm not sure what the Stock H.P. rating is on the 4.6's as mine's a 94 5.0. the Stock 5.0's were only 215 H.P. which I thought was really low for a V-8 Mustang. My 04 V-6 was faster til I rebuilt the motor with a Heads, Cam, Intake Swap. That's where you'll get the most power. I'm now at about 330 H.P. which still aint nothing compared to the new 5.0's. I'm going to have to Super Charge it to get where I want to be.
My guess would be you probably have a high 13 to mid 14 second car in the 1/4 mi.
If Scotty, Grumpy or Almost Stock chime in on this listen good as they know a whole lot about these cars & there info is usually on the money. I always contact one of them when I have questions so I don't get answers from someone who read a book on it once & think they know it all. Good Luck with the new car !!!

Well the 03 PI engines I believe were only running at around 250 in the HP dept. But depending on condition of engine and miles and work or lack of work done to the engine, and the bolt-ons you have mentioned, I would assume you are around the same 250hp range if not a few more if the block is stock. With the 10.5 rims in back and limited slip, you are probably looking in the high 14's with that setup. A tune may help in shaving some tenths but it is always a guessing game to what someone runs with whatever setup. Not to mention a driver's skill level.

I'm just happy to be back in the drivers seat! If its too slow I will just throw Nitrous at it like I did on the 87. The engine was a screamin deal as the car it was pulled from was written off at 32000 km. When I changed the front cover I had a good look inside and at looked like new.

By the way, welcome to the forum.

Either way you go, you can not beat the deal you have with the little money involved. I wish you best of luck with it and hope to see a progress thread on it as you make it all work.

That car and engine both were an awesome deal!

Take it to the track and see what she'll do!

Welcome!

High 14? Stock PI 2v's have ran high 13's before lol.

Anytime we post an answer to these type of questions is nothing but a guess, no real data to go by. And my answer is based off common sense not what one ran once or twice.

Still, he has some bolt ons and gears. Although there's no tune to tie it all together, it's still better than stock. And stocks run high 13's lol. I expect mid/ high 13's
